This van has a solid state relay unit to control the fan, when it dies it just allows the fans to run. this relay is located behind drivers headlight, attached to the bumper towards the grill. It will either be bolted on or riveted on. There will be big fins on it to keep it cool. When you change this unit you have to mount it for it to work right (zip ties are no good) seen that before.

How to change the fan.i own a 2006 town an country chrysler van and the air conditioner works when the car is going but once I stop the tempature guage goes up to hot and the van will over heat causin

It should be a fairly simple R&R since the fan and shroud is bolted to the radiator support. Usually you take it out as an assembly.
If you haven't done so already, be sure and check the fuse and relay before condemning the cooling fan motor.

Radiator fans don`t work on town and country van causing engine to overheat

The radiator fan relay is located behind the grill on the driver's side of the vehicle. There is no relay in the distribution box. There is a 40 amp fusible link, however, in that box.
The relay (behind the grill) works in conjunction with the coolant temperature sensor, the A/C high pressure switch, the transmission temperature sender and the PCM. This relay will run the fans from 30% to 99% of full speed based on the signal coming from the PCM. This is all according to the official Chrysler shop manuals that I have for my 2005 Town and Country van.

2003 Dodge Town and Country Van, 3.8 V6. Where is the engine cooling fan relay located? I replaced the blown 40 amp fuse, tested both fans, the are OK. Need to locate relay!

Down by the bottom of the radiator. pass side. on the frame/rad support. You probly have to remove front splash shield to get to it. I have never had to remove or change one.

Location of this mystery relay fan switch.

Look at the left (driverside) framerail near the radiator support. You can get to it from underneath, it has two small sheet metal screws holding it to the inner framerail. The framerail acts as a heatsink.

Radiator fan runs when engine is off

some cars do start up the fan when turned off after they have been driven. as long as it is not starting when the engine is cold there is nothing to worry about. the reason it took 15 mins to shut off is that with the engine not running the water is not being pumped
round the engine thus cooling faster. hope this helps
