93 wagon stalled while running & now engines cranks-no start
I was driving on the freeway the other day, tank was full, no issues previously, when i noticed i was losing power, pulled over to the side of the freeway. Car will crank over, but will not start. How do you know if the fuel cutoff switch needs to be reset? Car has 80K miles, original owner, well kept.
Re: 93 wagon stalled while running & now engines...
The negative battery post has several wires conected to it besides the cable if these are not getting good conection the car will not run. check to make sure no wires have come loose and ake sure all wires conected to neg. post or clamp are clean and tight. this happens to my 93 escort
Re: 93 wagon stalled while running & now engines...
The fuel pump may have died. Listen to see if the fuel pump cranks up with a slight whine after you move the ignition switch from "off" to "on", before moving it to "start". The fuel emergency cutoff valve usually closes after an impact or rollover accident. It can be reset by pressing a reset button usually located under the back seat or in the trunk area.

"When my car will not start it only growls & never roars/never turns over."
it either cranks robustly nor not
then and only the can it start, run
cranks
starts
runs
or maybe stalls
the dealer can fix it , if you demo it and it works.
its not broken then.
if it cranks correctly every time ,say so
that is a failed engine start.
if engine stalls, say so.
if rpm on the engine is real low, too low, say so.
the word turns over means nothing, Im sorry
1/2 say, it means cranking
other 1/2 means its running,
the order is
cranks, starts, runs , and keeps running or stalls.
btw if it stalls, its needs a tuneup'
get one in last decade, (sparks filters)
my guess growls is starter sounds
so if it starter works try cranking with throttle wide open
this is super secret unflood mod. it cuts fuel and clears flooding.
Good engines that fail to start are
bad spark plugs
flooding
starving for fuel.
we discount them 1 by one until. bingo
Here is the common cause of engine hesitation, surges, stalls at stops, slow idle speed, erratic idle speed, rough idle and (and other problems), it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of THROTTLE BODY cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.
check if the power to the fuel pump gets constant power when switched on it may have a electrical problem you may need to get a auto elect tech to help you

those sensors could cause the issue, clean the MAF 1st, also clean the idle system using the following procedure, the IAC can cause cruise surge. I use this to cure these problems all the time.
