Check the ABS brake sensors in your wheels, if they are not functioning properly. It will trigger the computer to engage the ASC auto stability control light as the asc uses the brakes to assist in control. I will also engage the EML engine management light to slow the rev point to limp mode

My bmw 318I 2005 stays in lumb mode, the eml light stays on and it only used to come on if the cars engine got hot, now it doesnt go off

the limp mode operates for both the engine and transmission major faults
run the fault codes to find the problem

My BMW 528i sensor EML light is coming on and stalling my motor to limp mode how do I bye pass this solution

you don't
you take it to an accredited service center with experience on your make of car , have them read the fault codes and fix what is putting the limp mode on
bypassing the system will only cost you lots pf money as that system is there to save money

Why does my traction control and eml light come on Bmw e46 ?

I'm sorry Roger but you are going to have to get it to someone with access to the plug in diagnostic unit for Beemers.
there seem to be several things going on but when it coughs up the diagnostic info you may go straight to it?

Engine management light reset

The car is trying to tell you something - limp mode is there to protect the engine if a serious problem is detected. Stop driving it and get someone out to scan the codes and diagnose this.

Hi I have 2000 BMW 528i, It all started with Brake oil, I put wrong one Dot3 and realize it is DOT 4 for BMW and bleaded out what ever was there and put New Brake oil. removed air from all 4 sections on...

Eml is the throttle fault light for the electronic throttle control you will need to get the fault codes read to find out which end the problem or problems are at on the throttle control
Asc is the traction control and when wheel spin is detected it shuts the butterfly on the one throttle body until the wheel spin is reduced get the actuator in the wheel well checked for damage to the wiring to the throttle body

I hae a bmw 528i 2000 model and the symbol EML is coming on also a yellow open triangle with a cirlce in it. i have no problem starting the car but it does d want to go very fast matter a fact you could...

Your car has entered a special 'Limp mode' which is designed to help a stranded driver limp home after a problem. In this case an issue related to electronic throttle/electronic power control between the cars computer and how it regulates engine variables based on your driving.

You ddefinitey have a problem that at the very least must be identified first and then possibly corrected by replacing a faulty part or resetting a faulty CPU.

You should stop driving the car iimmediately if possible.
The first thing you need to do is have someone 'pull the codes' almost any mechanic anywhere can do this for you and generally it is only a few dollars at most. They do this by plugging in a small computer under the steering wheel to check the 'obd' onboard diagnostics. whenever the car has a problem it sets off a code that can be pull up later to determine what exactly is wrong. Once they pull the code they will be able ot tell you what the issue is. It could be somethign as minor as a loose throttle wire or some type of larger major part failure, getting the code is the only way to find out for sure.

Good luck.

The scope of EML design on BMW engines provides:
• Throttle valve positioning for optimum starting
• Precise idle speed regulation without the use of an external idle control valve/circuit
• Progressive throttle opening curves matched to the driving program (with EGS/AGS inter-
face)
• Cruise control operation without additional control modules and linkages
• Automatic synchronization of the throttles (airflow balancing) for two independent banks,
throughout the entire engine speed range (M70, S70, M73 engines only)
• Intake air volume control for ASC/DSC (Automatic Slip Control/Directional Stability Con-
trol) systems
• Maximum road speed limiting
• Emergency "Failsafe" operation in the event of component failure

As for the limp mode unless you have an expensive diagnostic system this usually has to be done by BMW (anything to get ya to a dealership!!). The comms problem, is the key turned in the ignition?
