A mechanic told me my 96 Chevy Blazer should have gas line and brake line replaced, how do I know this needs done and not a scam? I'm a female with little knowledge and money.

First, what problem is this supposed to solve? Is something leaking, are the lines damaged, are they badly rusted? In other words, why does the mechanic want to do this? Charlie

Well if lines are severly rusted it is a safty issue if they start leaking you could be stranded on the side of the road,Ask your mechanic to put it up on lift and show you.

Location of fuel tank pressure sensor 2011 Chevy Impala

I suggest finding a good mechanic that will properly diagnose your issue instead of you just replacing undeeded parts. You might have a bad vent valve, or could be a cracked vacuum line.

Fuel pump in 96 Chevy Blazer replaced by mechanic, gas gauge didn't work after, took back, gas gauge only goes halfway now. What is causing this and what is remedy?

incorrectly and half assed installed. putting a fuel pump in a chevy is very difficult and takes patients. most mechanics dont have that so go to another shop and make sure they fix the problem before you pay.

Will a throttle position sensor cause my 96 model Chevy blazer 4.3L vortec get bad gas mileage I'm only getting 225 miles to a full tank

I would replace both o2 sensors and take the mass air flow sensor off and clean it with a non-chlroated brake cleaner. Also a tune-up sure won't hurt sparkplugs, plug wires, distributor cap and rotor.Your fuel milage should increase.

Hi, this is a very common failure. I recommend you call a couple brake shops. They will have the parts in stock and better experience to get the job done quickly. The bed or the tank may need to come off, but a quicker way may be to leave the old line in and just cut it, reflare the ends, and reroute a new spliced line. Your Firestone mechanics may not have the experience to know this.

My brake line went for my 1996 chevy blazer....how do I repair it

You will need to replace th elength of the line. A mechanic may be able to slpice in a line using flared unions, but it depends on the condition of the line. If its rusted, I recomend new lines.

Bad brake booster

If you know for sure that the booster has failed, you need to unbolt the master cylinder from it, (sometimes you can move it away enough to not even disconnect lines.) Then unbolt the booster from the firewall, disconnect the pedal linkage if connected to booster. Remove & replace booster assembly and everything else you you took off. If you didn't have to remove master cyl you are done. If removed, bleed master before putting back into service!
