I have 1998 Chevy Silverado with over 200,000 miles. One morning I started it up just fine, backed out of the drive way, and it just died. I turned the ignition to off, and turned it back on and parked it. My husband drove it later that day and nothing happened. The next day, everything went fine until I was almost to work that morning and it turned off completely and come back on really quickly. Nothing else happened that day. Today, I went to the truck to put things in it, and I noticed that the dome light didn't come on. Then I tried to lock it with the power lock, and it didn't work. I went to the other side to try to turn it on, nothing happened. I went back to the other door to close the door better and the dome light came on and the power locks worked. I later that morning went to turn it on to leave, and it started up and died before I even finished turning the key. It didn't come back on again. Anyone have any ideas what could be wrong with it?

I have a 98 chevy silverado also. I had same problem. My problem was located in the battery terminal. You need to take the terminals screws off and clean them good. You can not tell by justing looking at the terminals from fixed position. The corrosion was on the thread of the bolts itself.

Check your battery terminals. They may be corroded or just loose. If you get it running again have the battery and charger tested at an Advance or Autozone.

Hope this helps.

Chevy S10 1998 2.2 L engine . In 105 degree temperature I was driving approx. 60 miles per hr when I suddenly started loosing power. It slowed to about 40 miles per hr, started smoking & smelled l

It appears the cap screws off? It doesn't look like a regular radiator cap. I looked at acdelco parts book.
If the cap is stubborn, cold engine, sometimes I use a pair of pliers with wide jaws, grip the cap and screw it off. I haven't seen your type cap, before. If this was my vehicle, I would certainly want to look in the radiator. I'd get that cap off, one way or the other. Of course, nobody wants to damage anything.

1998 chevy 1500 silverado 5.7 liter 2 wheel drive missfired, jerked and died it would not start.

The first thing you do is run an OBD2 engine control module fault code test, this engine is fully electronically controlled. You will need a code reader to do this test, rent one or borrow one from a local auto parts store like Autozone or O'reilly. The test connector under the dash in front of the driver. See picture below.

My 1994 Chevy silverado is spewing fluid when shifting operates fine haven't lost any gears and doesn't slip. What could be the cause

If the fluid is coming from the bell housing of the transmission, your front hydraulic pump seal has walked. The only fix for this is to remove and rebuild the transmission. This commonly happens around 200,000 miles.
