SOURCE: 2003 Jetta TDI - Door locks open fuel door

Look for a short in the wiring harness in the door. The wires from the door lead to the convenience module (controls the doors and windows and some other settings including remote fob) that is under the dash. It sounds like some wires are crossed. VWs are also notorious for having problems with window regulators. They make the windows go up and down and are in the doors. Something might have happen to that and it cause a short. VW just extended the warranty on the window regulators to seven years because of these problems so you should be able to take it to a dealer and not get charged (this is in the U.S. at least, don't know about the rest of the world). The extended warrranty was not limited to original owners but you might want to ask the service people about it first.

Probably a issue with your actuator... there is a recall due to the "latching system does not meet the inertia load requirement" might want to check with the dealership to see if your vehicle is with this group, hope this helps :)

Recall 04V602000: Liftgate Latch Release Rod Replacement

Certain 2004-2005 sport utility vehicles and certain 2001-2003 sport utiity vehicles having rear liftgate components serviced with 2004 equivalent components fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 206, "Door Locks and Door Retention Components." The rear liftgate latching system does not meet the inertia load requirement in one direction.

SOURCE: I cannot open the doors

This is a common fault on the series 3 usually down to the General Module 5 or GMV relays breaking down. Item is situated behind glove box reasonably easy to replace. Cost from BMW about £240.00 Can be found through breakers about £60.00. Keys will have to be recoded. See www.bmwgm5.com for more info.

SOURCE: Automatic door locks will not work.

you need to take it to the dealer and have them check the bcm for codes.... also have them check to be sure you have the latest software in the bcm.. its possible that you just need a software update... there are several TSB's covering the concern you have..... it can be a very simple fix with software or even a stuck lock switch may need to be replaced... without the proper diagnostic codes being read from the bcm all that can be done is guessing..and that can be expensive...

How do I get my key remote to lock/unlock my toyota rav4 2002 model? I changed the battery because I thought that was the problem but it is still not working. The red light on the remote comes on but then...

You will need to try reprogramming the remote 1st, below is the complete procedure. If the reprogram doesn't restore function then you will need the dealer to test the keyless entry system, you may have a bad module or remote (only applies if both remotes don't work).

Start with the key out of the ignition, drivers door is open all others closed and
drivers door is unlocked.

2. Perform these steps within 5 seconds.
A. Insert the key into the ignition(Do NOT Turn) Pull key out.
B. Insert the key into the ignition(Do NOT Turn) Pull key out.

3. Perform these steps within 40 seconds.
A. Close then open the drivers door.
B. Close then open the drivers door.
C. Insert the key into the ignition(Do NOT Turn) Pull key out.

4. Perform these steps within 40 seconds.
A. Close then open the drivers door.
B. Close then open the drivers door.
C. Close the drivers door
D. Insert the key into ignition and leave it in ignition.
E. Turn the ignition to ON (Do NOT Start) then back to OFF.
F. Remove the key from the ignition.

5. Within 3 seconds, the power door locks should lock then unlock automatically
indicating successful entry into programming mode.
Return to step 1 if the locks do not cycle at this point.

6. Perform these steps within 40 seconds.
A. Press the lock and unlock buttons on the remote simultaneously for 1.5 seconds.
B. Immediately after letting go of the lock and unlock buttons,
Press the lock button by itself and hold for 2 seconds. Within 3 seconds, the door
locks should lock and then unlock once indicating successful programming. If
the door locks cycle twice, repeat steps A and B in step 6 as the remote was
not accepted.
C. Repeat steps A and B in step 6 for each new remote.

7. Open drivers door.

Did these doors quit at the same time or over a period. It seems that the actuators for the locks have gone bad. With the mentioned doors, that's a lot weight for the actuators to unlock and pop open. With the remotes and console not working , that's more reason to think the actuators are the problem.

I saw this on one of the toyota forums;
1) Getting a Replacement Remote

Look on ebay or google, make sure the remote has the following FCC-ID: bab237131-056

2) Installing the remote (credit to iPal)

1 open door, take key out...

2 insert and remove key from ignition 2 times

3 close and open driver's door 2 times

4 insert and remove key from ignition

5 close and open driver's door 2 times

6 insert key into ignition

7 close door

8 turn ignition from 'lock' to 'on' and back to 'lock'

if you do step #8

*1 time it's for add mode

*2 times for rewrite mode

*3 times for confirmation mode

*4 times for prohibition mode

9 remove key

10 then door lock will cycle 'lock' and 'unlock' a number of times
corresponding to your key cycles in step #8

11 press lock and unlock button together for 1 ~ 1.5 sec then release

12 then within 3 sec press lock button for 1 sec then release

13 if you did correctly door lock will cycle once...

if wrong, twice... then do it over...
