Re: I have a 2001 ford taurus that turns over but wont...
Check timing. Belt may have jumped. Aim a timing light at the crank. If the mark jumps around, the belt/chain, has slipped, and will need to be replaced.
Testimonial: "kinda what a figured but wanted a second opinion since taurus is notorious for all kinds of problems"
just so you know,i dont want you to get mislead,i work on a lot of 99-2007 tauruses and this car DEFINATELY DOES NOT HAVE A TIMING BELT.IT has a CHAIN.CHECK THE fuel pressure WITH A GUAGE dont assume you have enough fuel just because you see gas coming out of the schrader valve.without having a service manual in front of me,you want to see 30-40 pounds roughly at idle.as for timing chains, nowadays i dont see them go bad very often- my 1987 buick century V-6 made it to 250K miles with the O.E. chain still good. i did use MOBIL 1 OIL.
