2006 Pontiac g6 dies when the engine is hot after running awhile but will start up again when it cools down? Dealer told me I Ned a transmission but someone else said they thought it was a crank sensor. I...

I would run the fault codes and look for a temperature sensor. It will also show up a faulty crank/cam position sensor and TCM fault as well . I would stay away from the transmission replacement idea until I was sure that the transmission was the reason for the overheating or hot stopping problems. To set your mind at ease have a pressure test done on the transmission to check for internal problems

Have you had the electronics tested for fault codes? That is the 1st step when you have a problem like this.

MY BMW 318I 88/89 MODEL WILL NOT START IN THE MORNING ONLY IF I RUNNING START IT,AND SOMTIMES IN THE EVENING. CAN YOU PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS MATTER.BRUCE

Hi Bruce
Take the vehicle for a scan and I'm fairly sure the fault will be recorded as a defective temperature sensor. Once that is replaced I think the problem will be solved. What happens is the sensor signals the injection system to allow more fuel for starting when cold and at the moment it can't know if the engine is hot or cold, so it injects for an engine at operating temp. (When cold the engine needs more fuel to be able to start)

04 model renault megaine convertable just stops while driving, restarts ok then just stops.when its running runs fine.is intermitant and can fail when its hot or cold no warning lights on dash and no fault...

It may be an intermittent loss of signal from either the crankshaft or camshaft sensors, the ignition system, or the ecu itself. Usually these kinds of problems require driving with a scanner hooked up and recording any failure on the fly. Good luck!

Cold start problem: 2005 BA Falcon wagon

next time it wont start, pour hot water over ecu, if it starts replace ecu, you will need a scanner to reset as it will go into theft mode when you fit new ecu, beware that this is a common fault and you can buy 2nd hand faulty computers.

Have your timing checked. Retarded timing can cause the issues you have. A quick adjustment could fix it.
