has to be the same ECU controller by model years / same engine mustang
if you try the contour ECU without the wires connected you might cause more faults
you can buy, well we can, adaptor plugs to connect to the h/unit and to the wiring loom plug.normally its yellow=constant power 12v +,red=ignition feed 12v+,[some are other way round]black=earth, blue=power antennae,grey/greyblack,RF speaker,white/whiteblack,LH speaker,Purple/purple black,RR speaker andgreen/green black LR,,orange =illumination dash lights. Those are our standard colour codings,we get in New Zealand.
I would advise you to go to crutchfield.com. they have a very large data base and it should tell you what sterios will fit. also they make direct plug in adapters for most cars
If the colours on the new plug are different,no problem. Just make sure the same amount and colour go back to the original holes/terminals.
If you still need help, you should let us know which engine you have. Also if it is a 2V or 4V.
hi there go look at the colours at the rear of the speekers that the factory fitted they should be the same on the rear of the radio that they fitted to. regards John
