GM Oil Life System This system calculates the estimated percentage of the engine oils remaining useful life and alerts you through the DIC when its time to change the oil by displaying CHANGE OIL. Please remember to always reset the oil life system after an oil change.
Reset the oil life system Press and hold the control stem for more than two seconds while OIL LIFE is displayed. When completed, the system will reset and a beep will sound.

Nice, but doesn't work for my 2006 Silverado. My manual says:
1. Turn ignition key to RUN with engine off.
2. Fully press and release the accelerator pedal 3 times within 5 seconds.

If the OIL LIFE RESET message flashes for 10 seconds, the system is resetting.

3. Turn the key to LOCK.

The procedure is in the owners manuel, Try this, Display the OIL LIFE’ on the Driver Information Center (DIC). Press and hold the reset stem. The oil life will change to 100% and a beep will sound. Turn the key to LOCK. If the ‘CHANGE ENGINE OIL” message comes back on when you start your vehicle, the engine oil life system has not reset. Repeat the procedure. I hope this helps.

How do i turn off the change oil light after the oil is changed?

You don't need to do anything to turn off the light, it's not a change-oil light, but low-oil level light. Check whether the oil level is according to specification, if it is, then the floating sensor might be broken.

After changing the oil and filter on a 2008 Dyna, the "oil change" light would not turn off. On the plastic dash screen, there is a small circular rubber plug just above the rev counter. This plug can be prised off. Prise off the plug, insert a pin and press the button. Oil change light turns off.
