I have a 1983 nissan 720 pickup and it has and outside mounted fuel pump. the power wire fell off of it now it doesnt work and i cant find anywhere on the pump where to put the power wire back on.. i need help

1986 is about as old as it gets here, gee I had this car 1972.

up front is huge filter, missing or clogged or what?
there is a fuel pump fuse.
fuel pump in tank is 44-64 psi, must have 12vdc to it cranked
and must do that pressure, if not fails

all you think a TBI throttle body injector is a carb, well sorry it is not any kind of carb and is INJECTION EFI/

Halfway down the chassis on the passenger side.

The fuel pump relay is located under the glove box. It is a black box with two relays connected to it. (Of course it is not the pump, rather just a source of some problems sometimes.)

Autozone might have a manual which could be downloaded. I am not certain of their current policy. You might check customer service. This is all the information I have.

Hi Margie,I have a 85 Nissan 720 4x4 king cab.Go to the fuse box at the driver side kick panel,check all fuses.You also have some fusible links at the positive battery side,check those wires,for burnt or melted wire.Also could be your fuel gauge unit,here's a link to it. I'm not sure if there is a cut off switch for the 720. I was just reading recently about a common problem on them though, being the fuel pump control unit. If your pump isn't working, this may be your culprit. It is located on the passenger side kick panel. Pull the trim off, you should see it. Cost for them is about $60-$70. There may be a way to test them, I don't know.

fuel and temperature guages on the old nissan cars are run from the same fuse.
i cannot remember which one it is, but if you check your fuses you should be able to see if any are blown. i am pretty sure that there is not a relay for the guages as they do not use enough power to need one.

cannot find fuel pump circuit, but here is engine. I assume fuel pump will come off the "Run" wire shown below branching below the Ignition Switch that says "To Fuse Block." The fuse block will have a fuse and/or relay for the pump and will then have a wire from the fuse box to the pump. OK?

You say you replaced the fuel pump relay switch? The fuel pump relay is located in the passenger compartment on the right side under the dash. Little black box with a 6 pin plug. Replace that and your power to the pump should be restored . Had this happen on mine just last week. The relay actually monitors the alternator, key switch and a couple of fuses and will remove power from the pump if there is a fault. AutoZone stock number is 20550, costs about $50.

Use can use a universal pump but you have to look in the book to find out what the fuel pressure was supposed to be of the original pump. I do not have these specs off the top of my head. Once you know what the fuel pressure was supposed to be you can purchase the corresponding pump that is close and mount it in place of the old one. You can also get ones that are adjustable. These are adjustable within reason - say 10-15lbs.
