Ran out of Diesel, now 'injector fault' light on. '05 Modus

Hi! I need some help with my Renault Modus 2005.
I ran out of Diesel, and after topping up with a jerry can the car won't start, even though now it has enough fuel in it. 'Injection fault' light comes on when I turn the key, but the car just won't start! Any ideas welcome! Thanks

There is air in the fuel line causing the fuel not get to the injectors. you will have to open the fuel ine AT the injectors to bleed out the air while someone turns the key as if starting the car.

Ahh you allowed air to enter the fuel system it needs to be bled out or primed first before it can start.

1.5 diesel megane injection fault

The cheapest way to go is to change the fuel filters first and the air filter. Then I would change the crankshaft sensor.

You may have to bit the bullet , and have the fuel pump changed before the fuel injection pump. The fuel pump in the tank can be loosing pressure to the fuel injectoin pump.
I think the lesser cost is the fuel tank pump vs. the fuel injection pump.

The system runs of fuel and air. No spark like on a gas engine.

So the problem can only be lack of fuel or lack of air getting into the vehicle air induction. A restriction in fuel or air will make the engine run poorly.

Renault Modus 54 Plate 1.5 80dci dynamique

All 1.5dci engines (Renault, Dacia and Nissan) use Delphi fuel injector systems. These particular Delphi fuel pumps are very sensitive to the quality of diesel you use (oil quality and level in the engine seems to be a factor, too). Once the pump is damaged internally (partial or total seizure) fine metal dust from the pump gets into the system and damages one or more injectors. If you act early (while the engine still runs) you may get away with replacing the pump and the fuel filter. However, once the dust spreads around, you need to replace the entire fuel system, including the fuel tank. To prevent this from happenning (to a fuel pump that is not yet damaged) you need to use quality diesel with low sulphur content (diesel made out of Russian or Venezuelan oil have usually high sulphur content), diesel additives (STP, Castrol, Wynns or similar) and change engine oil and oil filter at least every 15,000km/12months (Nissan uses this shorter service interval and their 1.5 dci cars seem to have much less problems with fuel injection systems).
