Rear middle seat belt in 2005 jeep grand cherokee will not work

My Rear middle seat belt is in the lock position and will not pull out to use. I put the seat down to haul something and when i put the seat back up the seat belt is so tight it is pulling the seat material down. I also tried the brake and put the seat up and down and it only gets worse. I wonder if it is a defect since this other person has the same year jeep and same problem?

I have the same problem. They gave me the great option of paying $100 for them to release it each time I put the seat down, or fix it for $450. Mine is a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee and is the last Jeep I will buy.

2007 jeep grand cherokee rear seat in down position because the seat belt is locked and will not release. How do I fix this?

Hi,

if possible, you can squirt some oil in the seat belt clip before attempting to release the seat bet again. The oil should loosen the belt from the clip. Thank you.

2005 jeep grand cherokee hello the middle seatbelt in the rear seat middle is not coming our I am unable to use the seat belt seems like it is stuck what can I do to try and fix the problem without...

You can unbolt the belt at the bottom under the seat. Its kinda hard to get to. Its connected to the left side belt release. Once unbolted you can replace the part. Or if you want you can atleast get it to release by letting it go all the way to the top. The only problem with that is the problem will come back.

you need the car on level ground and try to take tension off the side that retracts however you can. hold it there a few seconds and try to slowly move the belt. good luck

For the seat bottom, you just need to pull it up. The seat backs would have to be unbolted.
