Park/Tail lights not working. Brake/signals are

My 1999 Lincoln Town Car Park/Tail lights not working. Brake/signals, headlights and interior lights are ok. I checked the fuses under the dash, all are fine. #5 fuse (Park/tail lights)has power on both sides. I'm guessing the next step is the Light Control Module. Does someone know exactly where this is located and what it takes to get to it? Thanks, Tom

I will check the Park/Tail voltage coming in and going out of the module. Thanks for your help, Jim.

Before going ahead and spending money on a new module, test it first. The module is located under the steering column. You'll find a Brown wire on one of the connectors (i just looked at a wire diagram). Do no disconnect anything. Back probe the brown wire, which is the power feed to your park lights. With the lights off, there should be 0 volts on you voltmeter. Turn the park lamps on, There should be 12V. If there is not 12V, disconnect the connector and try to check voltage at the pin that feeds to the brown wire, if still not 12V, replace the module. If you do get 12V, then module is ok, find where the 12v is being dropped before making it to the lamps.

This can be done just as easily with a test light.

I have no break lights or turn signals

Turn signal tail lights and BRAKE LIGHTS NOT WORKING

It can be faulty brake light switch causing the problem or its blown brake light bulb. First check and confirm brake light lamp is working and that's not the case.

For turn signal not working it can be faulty turn signal switch or its issue with wiring:----

Schematic_Diagram 93 lincoln town car tail lights and license plate light.

Sounds like either your wiring from the Light switch is bad or the Light switch itself is bad. Check with your Owners manual to see if the "Parking lights" have a separate fuse.

Your tail and License plate lights would light with either the Headlights or the "Parking" light selected at the switch as would the front parking lights. If all lights except the headlights are out, your problem is closer to the light switch than at the mounting points of each Parking light or License plate light.

This is one case where you will not know if a dead wire off of the switch is dead because of a bad switch or a bad wire. You would have to detach the harness at the switch, test the wire bundle or jump the switch with power to see how it distributes power through the Harness. It will take a lot of time to rule out the switch. It may be cheaper to replace the switch and then work from there.

I have a 99 lincoln town car and for some reason my park lights and tail lights stop working but i have headlights and brake lights and 4 ways. can you help

a_carradine,

Chances are you have a bad bulb. Change all bulbs for the parking and tail lights, making sure as well that they are the correct format (i.e. 1156, 1157 etc).

I suggest contacting a local auto parts dealer for specific indications for these bulbs. They will let you know what correct bulbs to use. You will want to check the fuse panel and make sure the fuses for these are not blown or missing.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance with this matter.

One of the tail light bulbs can be shorted internally.  Replace the tail light bulbs first.  Try this cheap fix first.
