This sounds like a fuel delivery issue. The fact that the engine starts and runs when you add starter fluid suggests that there is a problem with the fuel pump or the fuel pressure. It could also be a problem with the fuel filter or the fuel injectors. It would be best to have a mechanic diagnose and fix the issue.
no country told
no engine told
what fluid???????????? you car leaks fluids, oils or antifreeze ? brake fuids? (AC leaks are normal water condensate)
does engine crank fast with key in start position? y/n/?
this is first and not told
If it is white smoke maybe cooling system engine overheating and the engine shutting down.Check fluids oil antifreeze make sure there clean an check for leaks or loss of fluid.
You can't rule that out, a computer failure, but some testing would have to be done to truly determine the cause. The computer should send a signal to the fuel pump relay to turn the fuel pump on, both at key turned to on, and when key is in start-cranking the engine over. If you have to use starting fluid for hot restarts as you described (will it stay running then after starting it with the fluid?)...then it seems to be a fueling problem. I would say check fuel pressure, auto parts stores rent or loan them. It may be, for whatever reason, the pump is not being turned on through the fuel pump relay when it won't start without starting fluid.
have you checked all the engine fluids? (oil, coolant, trans fluid) low levels of these fluids may cause automatic shut-down to prevent damage to the engine or drive-train.also if the fuel is low enough most newer vehicles automatically shut down so as to prevent running the injectors dry. other than that check your fuses and warning lamps in the vehicle a lot of times that will give you a clue as to what's wrong
This problem shows 2 different Brand trucks. As a low cost effort, you might try a new Ignition switch. Diesel engines need a different wiring impulse since the engine does not fire a sparkplug.
This also means a different wiring sequence is used to shut them off. Could be shut-off device is stuck is in shut-off position and not resetting with ignition keyswitch.
Chances are your Imobilizer is keeping your car from starting, try using a different key. Is the car cranking and then shutting off a second later? Any lights flashing on the dash? Highly unlikely that a brake fluid leak would prevent your car from starting. The only way thAt would be possible is if the fluid leaked onto a module and ate away at your board.
What the heck IS It ???
