My 2000 kia sephia is not starting i bought a new battery, new fuel pump, new coils also wires and spark plugs, but still wont start. I also check the starter and took it to O' Railly Auto parts and starter still works!!! what could it be?!?!?!!! the starter, it has the sound like, ''VROOMMMMM'' when I turn the key in the ignition sometimes attempting it, the engine almost gets to start but fails agian..!!!?!!! '''''''' BUT IF I PUSH START THE CAR...100% IT WILL START!!!'''''''''' I'M CLUELESS OF WHAT THE PROBLEM IS!!!! Also it well start easier attempting 4-5 times it will start if im lucky. Then when the engine is cold or has been sitting for a while it starts very hard or no start at all but just the '''' VRRROOMMMM'' sound from the starter? WHAT COULD IT BE!!!!!???!?!??? NEW BATTERY, NEW FUEL PUMP, NEW COILS/ WIRES, SPARK PLUGS....... I CHECKED THE CARS DIAGONIST**'''''' its been a while not really sure'''''''' it says its the o2 sencer, fuel pump, and 6-7 other problems.... what could it be!!! could it be the flywheel? PLEASE HELP ME OUT!!! THANKS!!!
Could be a grounding problem, first try a selinoid jump.
It could be the neutral safety switch. I would take it to Autozone, checker or other major parts retailer, they will check the battery, alternator, and starter motor. And they'll run a diaignostic check of your cars computer system. At no charge to you.
If your lights don't dim when you get your clicking noise that is probably the thing to investigate first. Getting a jump sends extra ummph to the solenoid to overpower a poor connection. Your solenoid could be failing. The click is your solenoid getting power , but not enough to jump forward and engage the starter which in turn turns your flywheel.
Remember it is either your fuel, compression, or electrical.
I'm betting your solenoid is going out, since it starts when you jump start it.
Doesn't sound like starter is engaging fully with flywheel, is that correct? You may have to shim it a little one way or another to get it properly aligned. When starter off, did you take a look at teeth on flywheel to see if worn off perhaps? With key off, try turning engine over by hand slightly to allow for different position on flywheel and see of that works.
Normally unless flywheel was a problem prior to new starter, then very unlikely it's the problem now, and it's either a faulty gear on new starter, or it's out of alignment.

The fuel pump may have died. Can you hear it turn on briefly, by turning the key to "on"? You may have to stand by the gas tank while someone turns the key to on. It should turn on for about 2 seconds and then stop, after pressurizing the fuel system. If you don't hear it, then check the fuel pump fuse. If the fuse is good, and the pump won't run, one needs to check that the fuel pump wire at the tank connector has battery voltage on it when the engine is cranking-then, you can assume the pump needs replacing. If the pump is working and you have gas up to the engine, you would next check the ignition system. Start that by checking for spark on one of the spark plug wires.
No fire at the plugs means no power to the coil/coils or the coil/coils are bad. You say it won't start, I'll take that it does crank over and won't fire. You have to have power from the switch to the coil, coil to distributor, and cranking sends fire to plugs. With a test light, check that there IS power from the switch and ongoing. This is a must do.
code scan vechicle for faulty crankshaft sensor, camshaft sensor.check ignition fuse make sure ignition coil and ignition module getting power.because if power going to both either one of those could be faulty.
I assume you have checked the ignition system and that you are getting a spark at the plugs. If there is no spark, it could be either the Trigger Module inside the distributor or the coil itself.
It could be a lot of things but I would be very suspicious of the starter and flywheel. The fact that it will start with a push suggests that your codes are not the problem with starting. Your starter's bendix drive could be weak which means it will disengage before the car starts. The solenoid could be getting worn and not putting enough juice to keep the starter running. The flywheel could have a "flat" spot.
To check the flywheel for a "flat" spot you will have to look at it and turn it by hand. The best way is to use a screwdriver or small pry bar and work it around that way. You are looking for missing teeth, teeth that are ground off or narrower than the rest. If you find that the flywheel needs to be replaced. I would try to start the car and when the starter kicks out, start looking right there.
The only way I know of testing the starter and solenoid is to replace them and see if that works. Hope this helps.
do a compression test. cylinder 3 could have a bad valve lifter or valve.kia sephia dont have push rods.it have a bucket type followers.a intake leak to that cylinder can also cause misfire problems.
No i didnt check the flywheel. but What could i do if that is the case?
