2005 Kia Sorento rear hatch won't open. how do I fix it?

If it has come apart, it needs replacing or re-attaching.

you will have to remove the panel from inside the car and release the catch from there. Probably the rod has fallen off and the retaining clip has broken.

should lock and unlock but as to popping the hatch depends on options on vehicle and fob programming some fobs have the open button which would be an option look in owners manual it explains how to use fob

Have the remote start removed from the vehicle. Fix the cut wires. Use the key.

It could be a bad rear hatch latch actuator. if you can hear it working possibly a cable or rod popped off.

Most likely you will have to have it pounded out and replaced with a new wheel stud. These are vehicle specific and are sold at auto parts stores. If you can take a lug nut with you.

Lift the panel in the trunk, there should be a rod to crank your spare tire down. You have an opening on the left bottom of the back hatch. Insert the rod in this opening and use the lug wrench for your jack. Just crank this counter clock wise and the tire should begin to come down. Once it is all the way down, you have to take the center piece and turn it sideways in order to get the tire off.

Had the same problem and all went away when i got rid of the Kumho Tyres.

Open hatch remove the two screws on side of tailight with hand tap toward outside of vehicle the light has plastic pin on back of light goes in slot and slides about 1/2" outside the car to remove and pushes in and slides toward the hatch to lock in and replace screws (wiki.answers.com, 2009)
