SOURCE: 1990 geo metro headlight problem

hmmmm sounds like you are on the right track with the ground . with as much current as headlights pull it is possible that the intermittent open you are experiencing has to do with heat coming from an open in the wiring . i believe your best bet would be to locate a wiring diagram for your cars headlight circuit and inspect every wire in that circuit as well as one surrounding for thing like : burn marks , corrosion , places where insulation has worn off or is no longer even there ( :) ) ,and i believe you may find something . also , some cars come with a set of relays specifically for the headlights . these the headlights may be drawing extra current through the relay causing it to switch off (means headlights are bad ) , or the relay itself may have worn out over time (relay (s) may be bad ). i hope this helps you

SOURCE: Dim Headlights/headlight problem

if that is the case i believe your altenator is bad and draining the battery the altenator runs the engine and charges the battery the battery starts the vehicle and runs all the electronics and accessories the regulator is not working and therefore the battery is not getting charged and as the vehicle is running and the lights are on they will get dimmer and dimmer until there is no voltage left in the battery. reploace the altenator and the problem will go away...please rate this

SOURCE: 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GT multifunction switch problem?

I had the exact same problem, I changed the "ignition switch" because the contacts inside were burned, this is why you see all those troubles coming in and out at different moments. It costed me 150$ to do it myself, buy the switch on an online reseller, must cheaper than the dealer! Now everything is back to normal on my Grand Prix GT 99 exept that my headlights don't light up automatically when starting the car... I have to check my fuse/relay and switch to make sure everything is ok on that side.

Good luck.

SOURCE: 1998 Ford Mustang Headlight Adjustment

The adjustment screws/nuts should be located either on the top of the headlamp assembly, behind the headlamp assembly, or near the frame rail by the radiator support.

You will have vertical adjustment screws for each independent beam (separate highs and separate lows, but will be same screw if highs and lows are the same bulb). You may also have additional horizontal adjustment screws as well

Park your car on a level ground 30 feet from a wall and measure the height from the ground to the bulb and mark on a wall (do this for highs beams and low beams if the bulbs are separate, if highs and lows are the same bulb, only do it for the lows)

For Low Beams: If the headlights read VOR, then aim the brightest part or cutoff part just below the mark on the wall. If it says VOL or nothing, aim them 2 inches below the mark on the wall.

For High Beams (if separate from low beams): Aim the headlight directly at the line you marked on the wall.

I have a 2007 Dodge Caliber radiator fans are not turning on and the fuse is okay what would be my next step

Check the relays under the hood. Either in fuse panel under hood or follow fan wires from fan and look for a relay on fenderwell or radiator support. If all is good try a jumper wire to fan motor and see if it comes on. If not fan motor may be bad. Most are replacable.

A/C cooling fans, A/C only cools when car is in motion????

Cooling fans are most likely not coming on. I believe that vehicle has two fans..side by side, one closer to passenger side is ac fan..should come on when you cut ac on. I would check coolant level some sensors will not read temp correctly unless submerged in coolant...fans should kick on when car reaches somewhere around 185 to 205....should be a plastic fuse box under hood that houses fan relay...also should be identical relays that run headlights or something else..you can swap relaysaround to see if the relay has gone bad. If fans aren't coming on or one of the two is..turn the one not coming on by hand to see if fan motor has frozen up

Blower Fan doesn't operate normally

No, it must be the ground for the blower motor, if you have power to the fan. Like this: you ground a voltmeter and find battery voltage on the red wire. Now move the ground lead to the ground wire, positive lead on red wire. If ground is good, meter will register voltage. If no ground, no register of the meter. Double check your ground.

I hear a clicking noise such as electrical points opening and closing in the area of the fuse box. As this happens the heater fan, headlights, inside panel lights, dashboard lights all flash. so it seems...

I believe you have a ground short in the main fuse wiring or at the main fuse location itself. Try locating it and as the suggested Tech from Firestone advised , replace the main fuse. frank

Check all your grounds. Be especially careful to check the ground from the engine block to the chassis. It might be a braided cable to the firewall.

How to install fuel shutoff solenod in a 1987 7.3 int. engine and how works . i have already replaced switch and have power to it but dont know how it grounds, does the arm on the solenoid make the switch...

it is grounded threw the bolts that hold it in place. I believe you are talking about he diesel engine an the biggest issue this rig had was the fuel pump on the side of the block not the high fuel pressure pump you should pull the lower fuel pump off and check that it has vacuum and that it holds vacuum when you push the plunger down it should hold vacuum for a couple of minutes if not it has a bad check valve. the symptoms would be dieing out low or no power I know you did not ask for this information but you will need it to help solve the problem. when the fuel shutoff kicks in it shuts the fuel off when is off it is cut off. hope this helps.

200 Dodge Intrepid randomly stalls

Hey Brad!
So you're saying that there seems to be a relation between the headlights and the engine issue... Seems strange, but I've seen similar symptoms on a car where one of the clamps on the battery poles weren't secured tight enough (even though they did look/feel ok). Could also be that the ground wire (running from the negative pole on the battery) has a bad connection. Check and clean those first, it's both easy and cheap.
If it's not related to the battery you might have a faulty sensor somewhere. If so you should check your onboard diagnostic sensor for any codes.
Good luck mate!

Overheating/fan doesn't come on/hose to nowhere???

Hi there lady mechanic...
Kudos for your go-getting spirit towards your car!
Hey, what I would suggest... get a motor manual specific to your car. They sometimes offer pretty good assistance for common problems... especially if you plan on keeping the car a while.
As for the hose... I'm not an expert ok? But most cars today have the cooling fans controlled electronically. They have their own electric motors, unlike the old belt driven autos of yesteryear.
Vacuum lines sometimes go to the master cylinder brake booster. The booster looks like the picture in this link:

See if your line disappears close to this animal, mounted on your firewall. If so, that's probably where it goes.
As for your fan, check your owners manual to find your fuse box locations and check for a fuse issue. Else, there is a relay that tells the fan to come on at certain times. The relay could be faulty. If all the electric power is there, possibly the fan itself is the problem.
Lots of stuff to check, but you can do it.
I hope I helped you if not a little...
Best of luck!

P.S. Hey, I "Jerry rig" too (It's my name)
