SOURCE: My 1990 Camry jerks and sometimes stalls

The 1st thing to do is have a trouble code retrieval test run to see what is making the check engine light come, this is the source of the problem.

SOURCE: My 1991 Toyota Corolla had it's fuel pump replaced 3 months ago.

Yes. may be filter. But first check fuel pressure at injector rail. Should be approx 40 PSI. any lower will cause these symptoms.

Replacing fuel filter should be a given when changing pump, get it changed today.

SOURCE: my 2001 toyota corolla stalls out when cold

It is registering engine too lean due to either too much air entering the engine via an intake leak or by an inaccurate reading from the MAF.

Often on these cars, particularly if they have used Toyota brand air filters, the MAF collects fuzz over time from the air filter.
As this 'fuzz' collects on the MAF element, it acts as an insulator and skews the airflow reading for the ecm; it sees less air than is actually going through, so when it checks your mixture on the way out of the engine it realizes that there is more air than it thought was going in.

Pull your MAF out of the air hose (two philips screws) and clean it with non-chlorinated brake cleaner or "MAF cleaner" available at your local parts store. Look in there with a flashlight, you will see a little coiled wire covered in little bits of fuzz before you start.

Do NOT touch the element, just use the cleaner to blast it clean. Let it air dry completely before reinstalling.

Clear the code and call it a day!

SOURCE: Hello, My 1981 Toyota truck

Hi! As a first course of action please check on the vacuum hoses. If theres unconnected or worn vacuum hoses the idle will be too low. Please check very carefully. Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa!

I have a toyota corolla car. It was loosing power and the engine check light came on then the car cut off. After a few minutes it started back but cut off again and it just stalled after that.

You need to get the check engine code to point you in the right direction. Common reasons are bad: fuel pumps, injectors fuel regulators distributors igniters and the cpu

I have a hard start problem with a carburated 1988 toyota corolla fx, 1.6 SOHC. When it's cold, it starts right up without me even depressing the accelerator. But once it reaches operating temper

If this is the model with the variable venturi, it has a little green vacum box claped under the air filter box, theyplay up a lot, results in bad starting, bad idle, or stalling.

Hope this helps

Toyota 92 model no idle upon initial start up but idle when engine is warm

Engine stalling issue at low speeds

This problem is commonly caused by a dirty automatic idle speed control valve and throttle valve. Buy a can of throttle valve cleaner from NAPA or Carquest (made by CRC chemicals) and spray it into the air intake while the engine is running, use up about 1/2 the can, engine will try to stall hold the speed up, shut it down and let it soak for 30 minutes, restart and blow out the remaining fluid, shut it down and disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 Min's to reset the base idle control

My vechicle is taking to much fuel its a ae91 model corolla with 5a engine

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

Does your corolla still runs on carburetor? If it is then it's a common problem. The carburetor's jet spits too much fuel when worn out. I strongly suggest that you get a carburetor kit and replace the jet and seals to resolve the problem.

Fuel consumption will surely be good after the procedure.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

Just change the sparkplugs, overhauled the carburetor but still it is hard starting. My mechanic says i have to change my carburetor. is it right?

if your carburetor was overhauled correctly , no , you shouldn't have to change it. Are you sure your problem is fuel supply related? if so , hard starts are usually caused by the following : improper choke setting..a vacuum leak at the carburetor base or intake manifold or a hose ...a faulty accelerator pump ...low fuel pump pressure caused by a bad fuel pump or a clogged filter ....or too low of a gasoline float level in the carburetor.

Toyota corolla 1996

If you remove thermostat water will circulate too fast and will not cool down, replace thermostat and check if your fan is turning in correct direction. Also make sure your ignition timing is ok. I found on some vehicles the waterpump seems ok but when vehicle starts heating up the impeller gets loose on the shaft. Check your brakes if they are not binding.
