Can the electric power steering motor be fixed Malibu 2005 it too expensive to replace.

This can be VERY expensive I would first contact GM customer assitance the phone number should be in your owners manual.Maybe depending on your milage they will split the cost with you.I worked 20 plus years for GM and they helped alot my customers.

There isn't one. The 2005 Malibu uses an electric motor that doen't require any fluid.

Power steering was fine until I rounded a corner and it locked up and was real hard to turn. I drove to work, shut it off and it hasn't happened since. 2005 Malibu. Took to dealership, they checked it out...
if you brought from dealer and have warranty, get something in writing, this may be a problem with the electric motor for the steering and is very very expensive, ther should of been a stored code but if not okay, just get something that if warranty runs out and this fails you have a leg to stand on, hope this is helpful, good luck.

this car doesnt have a power steering pump, this car uses an electric motor to provied power steering, this motor is located under the dash connected to steering column shaft,when replacing the motor the module must also be replaced, here is a diagram to help you locate the motor,94445b2.gif

Where. Is the power steering fill in a2005 Chevy Malibu
2005 may have electric assist power stearing no pumps fluids or any thing just a motor on the side of the stearing column. check gms recalls becouse they have major problems with the system.
I also came across an 03 monte carlo that had power stearing resivoir way down on the back side of the engine by the fire wall it took a flexable funnel to fill it
