SOURCE: When I turn the steering wheel, I hear a whining
That sound is telling you your power steering pump is low on fluid. You need to go to an autoparts store and get a bottle of power steering fluid and add it to the reservoir of the power steering pump. When you remove the cap from teh power steering unit, you will see that the cap doubles as a dipstick so you can gauge how much fluid is in the reservoir. Pour the fluid into the reservoir a little at a time, stopping to replace the cap, pull the cap and check the level. Do this until the dipstick shows the reservoir is full. This should remove the sounds you are hearing.

That sounds like a cv joint. It is right behind the tire on the end of the axle. It should have a rubber boot around it. I suspect the boot went bad causing you to lose the grease.

yes look there and also inspect your track bar, tierod ends, pitman arm ball joint. Have someone turn your steering wheel while you look. the bind or looseness should be evedent. Its a big sysytem to cover.
SOURCE: Hear a popping noise when i turn steering wheel?...
This could be three things:
1. slop in your steering column.
2. Worn ball joints
3. Bent strut/s
