Manually shift your transfer case into 2-WH and get your shifter fork replaced.

SOURCE: jeep stuck in low four wheel drive

Put the transmission in neutral, emergency brake off, foot off the brake pedal, now try shifting out of 4 wheel drive low. If that doesn't work, drive forward, and again do the above, trans. in neutral, roll to a stop, foot off brake, try to disengage. What you're probably experiencing is called drive shaft 'wind up', and it is very difficult to disengage, but do the above and it should shift out of 4 low. countrycurt0

SOURCE: jeep liberty transmission problem

IT COULD BE SOLENOID PACK OR THE GOVERNOR AND TRANSDUCER OR LOW FLUID OR THE MOST COMMON REPAIR SPEEDS SENSORS INPUT/OUTPUT. ALL OF THESE CONTROLS THE SHIFTING. START WITH THE SENSORS FIRST, VERY COMMON.

SOURCE: 4 wheel drive doesnt work.

Has this Jeep been modified at all?
It sounds like the shifter cable was reinstalled backwards.
Specifically the 4-Low "Not Climbing Well". 4-Low should give you the best torque and hill climbing ability.
Do you feel any "Binding" in the steering wheel (difficult to turn)?
Remember a Jeep uses real driveshafts and differentials to give you 4WD - you cannot engage 4WD or 4-Low on dry hard surfaces. It needs a little bit of slip between the wheels for turns.
Check you're fluids too.

SOURCE: Won't shift out of 4 wheel drive low

modulator stuck or damaged located at transfer case take a rubber mallet and hit around where modulator and case connect than try to shift again if nothing than un bolt and lube and move actuator rod, with out try to move electronically w/switch back to 2 wheel drive -if moves should work can replace but look for replacement as back up if happens again just change over

Can I engage and disengage the 4 wheel drive while I'm driving? At what speed?

You can engage from two wheel drive to four wheel drive at any reasonable speed though I find it's easier on the transfer case if you do that below 45mph. Lift you foot off the gas as you shift so the unit is not under stress. To engage 4 low, you should not be traveling faster than 5mph and then, only on slippery surfaces. When in that gear, it is not advisable to travel much faster than 25-30mph and never on dry ground.

2004 jeep liberty stuck in 4 wheel drive low - can't get it to go to either 2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive high

a reluctant transfer case can sometimes be coaxed by shifting into reverse, backing up 10 feet, and then back to forward.

How to shift a 1998 jeep grand cherokee into 4 wheel drive

Four low is almost never used. I use it on very steep rocky or muddy trails in the woods or to pull someone out of mud or a ditch. Though some will shift standing still it is best do do this while rolling. Four high can be shifted at low speeds of 2 to about 35mph (higher also but not really good idea) Low can only be shifted between 2 to 10mph. If you find yourself stuck and unable to shift because you aren't rolling you can also turn the engine off, engage the transfer case and re-start. That avoids having the gears clashing together. Best rule is if it begins to grind, don't force it.

I have a 2005 liberty. When I shift out of 4x4, I drive about half to a full mile then it clunks when it disengages.Feels like hitting a real small speed bump.

normal but if you read the manule it says disengage 4x4 and then shift into reverse go 5 feet then it will disengage easier and disengage right away

How do I shift into four wheel drive?

I've seen some that can be shifted while in park, but generally even when that is possible, it is always better to shift while rolling at a slow speed (under 20mph). When all components are turning, it's easier for them to properly engage without grinding.. If after you are finished using 4x4, the front axle does not disengage, you can usually get it to do so by disengaging the shifter, then backing up for about ten to twenty feet.

2005 Jeep Liberty stuck in Part Time 4wd

I questioned the dealer about my 2005 because mine was disengaging what I thought to be rough compared to what I was used to. They told me that I should shift the vehicle into Neutral before shifting the selector. I have also found that shifting between Reverse and Drive a couple of times while stopped has helped as well. By doing these couple of things, I have had no trouble since. I hope this helps as it might at least be something to try.
