only way to repair is to replace the handles. this is a common problem they use a toothed circle to work the lever and it wears and jumps a tooth basically and it will pop the tooth off if you push it back.so replacement is only fix

Have you looked to see if the baby lock has been activated. Its a small lever near the outer door lock on the door it stops kids from opening door so they dont fall out.

Sounds to me like the child locks are on. Make sure the doors are unlocked first( if they are power locks unlock them manually to make sure they are unlocked), then try to open from the outside. It's just odd that both doors are doing the same thing. If that works, and you get both doors open, there is a small switch to disable the child lock near the latch on the door.
Door panels generally can not be removed with the door closed. There are plastic rivets that pop out when pulling the door panel away from the door frame.

It sounds like the linkage connecting the door handle to the latch has disengaged....you'll need to remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. You can then pull off the weather seal in order to see the inside of the door....

This is a common problem that seems to happen after the warranty is conveniently up, and they won't cover the fix. If everyone files a complaint with the NHTSA they will do a recall and have to fix it.https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/VehicleCom...
To get the door open, first loosen the door mount bolts. Next, inside the door, carefully pull out the weather stripping. You'll need to remove it entirely. Next remove the screw in the handle. Pull off the small plastic section in the corner at the rear of the door by the glass. Lastly, reach down at the bottom of the door panel between the panel and the car frame and pull up. It'll take some force, but try not to overdue it. Work it loose enough to get inside the panel. From there you can remove the cable and manually pull the bottom cable to open the door. After getting the door open I switched the child safety lock and it worked for a few times after I put the door back together. Then it failed again. I have color matched door handles, so replacing them would have been a pain in the backside. At that point I was annoyed so I traded the car in.
