How do I disarm the child safety locks on rear doors of 2011 KIA Optima and keep it off?

Could be Child safety lock help prevent the rear doors from being opened accidentally. The child safety lock levers are located on the edge of the rear doors.

They are programmed to lock as soon as you put the car into Drive. It stops your child passengers opening the door and stops someone dragging you out of the drivers seat when stopped at lights.

Locking and unlocking when driving is not right though and needs investigation by an auto-electrician who will use a pro grade scan tool computer to record what the data says when this happens. Diagnosis provides the fix.

The handle could have come apart inside the door.

Yes, I would make sure the child safety lock is not engaged.

A lock smith might be able to open it with a slim jim. But then you have to repair it. Taking all the inner workings out of the door and the door panel removal is not easy.

Clean and check the child safety lock lever.

Lever stick to the wrong position or middle will cause this problem.

Try the settings on t he drivers door, you can turn off the passenger window controls there, maybe they are off.

Locking the vehicle will lock it from the out side.
If you are trying to child proof your rear doors, when you open the doors, on each of the rear doors there should be a little button you can move to lock the rear door from the inside.

If you have tried the inside, and outside door handle, and it does not open you need a new door latch assembly.
