SOURCE: 2001 Ford Expedition: inexpensive new ignition (transponder) key?

the old keys or another expedition key can be reprogrammed to your vehicle, the only thing is you would have to change the lock cylinder to match the key or swap the ignition from another expedition with that has the key

SOURCE: ford focus 52 plate, fitted new silver calcium

Check battery cable connections to make sure they are tight and have a metal to metal connection. Make sure the rubber ends didn't get in between connections. Then check the fuses to make sure none are blown. You can test ignition and power to starter with a voltmeter.

Testimonial: "will try fuses tomorrow am."

SOURCE: I have a chev spark

Crank, briefly, but do not start the engine. the security light should start flashing. wait until it stops. this can take up to ten minutes. the car should start then. if it doesn't, then call whomever installed the lock cylinder and harness, as this should be under warranty. in any event let them know your having trouble. any reputable shop will be glad to help if there ais any problem with a recent repair.

I have a 1991 Ford F-250 XLT Lariat automatic. I replaced the ignition switch, now I have no power anywhere. Help please?

Did you disconnect the battery when you replaced the ignition switch? Some ignition switches contain the immobilizer transponder. You would need to reset the anti-theft system. You need an auto electrician or an alarm installer / auto locksmith with a pro grade scan tool. Having said that, after a quick Google, it is a known issue!

The theft light on the dash of my 1998 ford explorer xlt is now blinking fast and lights and radio power on and when I turn key it starts to go but won't completely turn over

(1) The transponder key is bad and needs to be replaced
OR
(2) the antenna ring is damage around the ignition lock

If the transponder chip is bad or Damage the car will not Start

the Transponder system is a PATS 2

Car wont start or turn over have already changed oil sparkplugs and baterry. is there a mobilizer for the security system?

Yes, you have PATS II. There is a tranceiver on the ignition barrel and a transponder in every factory key. If the transceiver cannot read your key, the red security light will blink rapidly. If this happens, make sure you are using a factory key and there are no other factory keys near the switch. If it continues to blink rapidly, you might try removing the PATS ring from the key barrel and placing a factory key in the center of the ring. I have done this successfully in the past. If it works, tape up the key inside the ring and place it in the open space in the steering column shroud. Then remove the transponder from any other factory keys. You can then have keys made at a hardware store, as your one transponder inside the column will constantly respond to the PATS system.

Symbol of car & lock flashing on the instrument panel

you may have to tow to dealer but will give you 2 quick options before you have to do that.

1. if you have any other vehicle keys on your key ring remove your specific key(s) and see if light turns off.
2. if you were given a spare try it.

If this fails to work your key has lost its code or ignition switch is not receiving the transponder code for your key.
your key send out a signal to your ignition which then the PCM(powertrain control module) will allow your vehicle to start.
this is a vehicle theft safety issue. only your key(s) given to you when sold the vehicle can start the vehicle.
and you must in order to resolve these issues as stated above. but may be required towing to a Ford authorized service center to repair faulty ignition switches(very rare).other wise your key has lost it's transponder code and will need to be replaced with a new key and then coded to your vehicle.

I just got a Focus myself with "special" key. Only came with one. You can't start car if key is not a transponder key. If yours was intermittantly working, I'd guess you now have a bad key.
You cannot make key yourself. You have to get dealer or locksmith to program it.
You can make a key yourself only if you have two working keys. I know ,sounds like a scam to make more money for Ford. I bought two keys off ebay for $25, now I need to get programmed. First quote I got was $110 for one key!!! And I have a working one.
But if you have no working ones, like you do, you have to tow to dealer or have locksmith reprogram, and I'd guess for more money!!!!
