You probably have air in the system. You need to bleed the air out of the system so that it will disengage your clutch. The air in the system is compressing and, therefore, the slave cylinder can't reach the full extension.

Have issue with H.Santafe V6 5 speed manual 4WD, was driving slowly in first gear then the car stops ( smouth stop), tried to engage 1st, reverse..but nothing happens, when in gear with the cluth pedal...

All without warning. well it happens. This is what has happened, the clutch plate is probaly still good and release bearing and the clutch disk, there probably all good. Inside the transmission is the input trans bearing,This is held by an inner circlip, This part that is needed is called input shaft bearing.the good new is that you wont need a whole transmission just the front part. The shop you take it to all they have to do is remove the transmission as though they are doing a clutch job, then they'll take it one more step they have to remove the input clutch shaft and replace it.Its not an expensive part.it wears out just like a clutch.

I have a 1997 pontiac sunfire with a manual transmission. I can not get the car to go into gear and the clutch pedal has no pressure. I saw that fluid is leaking out at the spot where the gear shifter...

The clutch system is hydraulic just like your brakes are. You have a slave cylinder and a master cylinder. You must have a leak somewhere, and will have to see what part it is, or have it looked at. Once replaced, the system needs to be bled of air just like brakes do.

2005 Corolla's manual trasmission shifts gears, it clunks

hi mate , sounds like the SPIGOT bearing its a little bearing that allows the gearbox to be at a different seed than the engine flywheel and if this is in bad condition it will take the gearbox front shaft to a higher speed than comfortable for gearshift , in the meantime when you go for 1st or reverse gear just engage a gear like 4th without taking your foot off the clutch and then go for 1st or reverse, this will stop the gearbox spining long enough for a smooth shif, oNLY USE THIS METHOD WHILE STaTIONARY and see a professional when you get time.

1998 Dodge Grand Caravan will not shif into 2nd

Most likely the second gear section of the transmission has gone bad. There are 3 or 4 different gear sections or assemblies in an automatic transmission, when they go bad, they go bad.

Hyundai tucson 2 liter crdi gear box sound its a manual transmission

Hi there, the Common Rail Diesel Inyection (CRDI) 2000 cc 112 Hp M/T have a big trouble on cluth plate, and sounds very loud between 1500 and 2000 rpm on 2,3,4 shift. That motor has too much torque and cause excesive wear in the cluth roll and plate so starts roominess in the cluth system. You could change those parts but quickly the sounds come again. Hyundai is the resposable of that damage. I hope in the near future recall the CRDI model 112 Hp and replace the cluth.

1995 sunfire wont shift gear

There were two different automatic transmissions in the Sunfire that year, the 3 speed trans designated the 3T40,and the 4 speed trans designated the 4T40.If your car has the 4 speed trans, there will be a circle around the "D" on your gear selector indicator. The 3 speed trans will not have a circle around the "D".The 3 speed trans works off of a cable called the TV or Throttle Valve cable. This cable should be checked where it engages the throttle body around the area where the throttle cable attaches to the throttle body,on the engine. If the cable becomes disconnected for whatever reason, the trans will not shift out of 1st gear in most cases. If the car has the 4 speed trans, this model trans is totally electronic, and the vehicle should have the codes pulled out.For every trouble code, there is a diagnostic route to follow to repair the malfunction.

1998 SUNFIRE GT TRANSMISSION PROBLEM

There are 3 transmissions that could be in your car,the 3 speed auto and 4 speed auto overdrive, and of course the manual 5 speed. The 3 speed is designated the 3T40,the 4 speed auto is the 4T40E trans. To check the fluid level, first, the car has to be warmed up to at least 100 degrees Fahrenheit. The car has to be raised in the air,as there is a steel plug in the trans case that has to be removed to check the fluid level. The plug takes an 11 mm or 7/16" socket or wrench and is located on the passenger side of the trans case, near where the passenger side axle engages into the trans. The procedure is to warm the car up to at least 100 degrees, engage the shifter into each gear selection pausing for about 5 seconds in each gear, then remove the plug.If fluid drips out,it is full.If no fluid drips out,add fluid through the top of the trans after removing the red plastic cap,and make sure to use a long funnel to avoid a mess.Add fluid until it drips out the hole. When done, replace the plug and cap.Just a note,a transmission does not "use" fluid like an engine uses oil.If you have to add fluid, that means there is a leak that needs to be repaired.Good luck
