Have a 1999 chevy 1500 Z71 (v8). I was listing to the radio the other night for about 3hrs and went out the next morning and it won't start. Changed the battery and all it does when I turn the key is EVERYTHING turns off while the key is in the crank possition. Once you place in run possition everything comes back on (radio, lights, gauges, etc). also check all kinds of fuses but all looked ok. ????

1999 Chevrolet Silverado Z71 5.3L will not start.

Depending on where you are checking the spark, orange may be rather weak. It should be white or blue.
If the plugs are dry and they have an orange spark, the coil may be going dead.

I own a 2001 chevy siverado z71 4x4 v8 4.8 vortec engine, Is not starting changed battery, alternator, spark plugs, and the starter is spinning the serpintine belt and its still not starting What else could...

If the engine is turning over than none of the things you replaced will make the engine"start". You will need to check for fuel pressure and spark first.

Why do my lights flicker on my 1999 chevy 1500 4x4 z71 with the 5.3?

i had alot of wiring problems with my 99 silverado. I lost my tail lights completly and had to replace my fuel pump wire harness just for a few examples. My suggestion is to start looking for any loose grounds and broken or cracked wires

Chevy silverado 1500 z71 4wd. Sputters when starting and dies when pressing on the gas, wont start up sometimes.

How many miles do you have on it? Might be time for a tune-up (new plugs, plug wires, etc.) Start with the simple things first - have you changed your fuel filter? Could also be bad gas - couple of bottles of Heet (alcohol) will help with this. Then move on to more things like a Vacuum leak, fuel pump.

Transmission takes a long time to shift out of 1st gear on 1999 chevy 1500 5.3 v8. Z71

It costs nothing to try this; check for cracked or disconnected vacuum lines. This is monitored to initiate shifting up. If the vacuum is low the transmission doesn't know when it is OK to shift.
