Question about Opel Astra

Open Question

I have Opel Astra 1.8 CDE. When I stop at a robot car will not engage gears. I push it a few feet and it engages gears normally.

relpace the clutch pressure plate and throwoout bearing. It all comes in a clutch kit.

then the transmission has failed or has sticking engagement solenoid in trans pan, have the fluid and filter replaced and see if that corrects the problem

SOURCE: gears wont engage on my smart car.

Could be one of two things Dean.
1- The transmission motor could need to be readjusted , and that is easy and always first choice. Under the car look at the transmission on the right hand side you will see a small motor with 3 bolts , loosen the bolts but do not remove , then open the ignition , do not start the car. ignition off and then tighten the bolts. Start the car and check it out. If still the same ... 2- Most probably you have a problem with the clutch and needs to be replaced.

struggling in first gear, is this to engage with clutch or get in gear its self. also there are not meany places to get a 1993 manual but a 1995 will cover the clutch system. have you tried adjusting the clutch cable, its a pain to adjust but undo the cable till there is slack not much just enough to lift the cable with little finger then check by trying to engage a gear. do this adjustment in a wide area so you have space for vehicle to move about. but if you still having problems with first gear and others are fine to move then it will be the gear gaiter needs replacing, its in the gear stick. its made out of plastic and first gear is the most used gear so this will wear out quicker. you will need to disassemble the gear stick and take of the leather boot to get to the bolts and undo them.

Car wont start with key but will start with push
Sounds like your Battery is on the way out friend, and not turning the engine over fast enough. A push start always turns the engine fast.via the gears.
New Battery Time !!!!! Save getting puffed out pushing.

94 jeep grand cherokee, trannys slippg in 1s gear, added lucas stop slip, started next day, drve a few feet and it wont engage.......
Transmission might be fried. One suggestion, did you try putting it in 4WD and trying that? I had a Jeep come in, same thing, wont move, ended up being a blown transfer case. Put it in 4 hi or low, and see if it will go into gear and move. Long shot, but worth a try.

Check the transmission oil level. It must be filled to the indicator on dip stick.

Opel Astra 1.6 SXi Estate reverse gear issue
some of the times it can be the gear link so what u need to do is to get under the car and check for gear leaver on gearbox and make the screw loose while putting the neutral gear and after making it loose you set the gear straight on the centre and need someone to hold the gear at the centre and tight the screw or bolt while holding the gear on neutral

I can't get my 1997 Nissan pathfinder out of 4 wheel drive mode?
stop the truck ,place in nutral,push trasfer case lever down then pull back to position 2h place into gear if it still feels like its engaged back up a few feet then go forward that should do the trick

Slips out of gear when in 4WD
Check the oil level in the shift on the fly (sotf) part of the axle thats the left of the front one - it holds about 1 pint of gear oil and gets missed at service time .

Will not engage into 4wheel drive
Start Vehicle with engine running push on BRAKE and with feet firmly on brake put vehicle in NEUTRAL. Keeping foot on brake try to engage 4x4 should work. If I fixed-ya leave ma FIX-YA comment thanks
