I have a 2004 Chevy Impala (3.4L V6) with an HVAC blower motor that is stuck on high. I have replaced the resistor (that seems to be the common problem) but when I turn the heater on, it stays on high. I have to pull the 30A fuse to get it to shut off. What else could it be? It is a manual temp control - not automatic.
Try fan speed relay
Where is the fan speed relay?
look on line or service manuals.. look and see if there is a removable cover under on firewall, sometimes the relays are there.
If you can't locate it ago just answer.com, there are gm mechanics available. You will have to pay a fee, but is known before starting. Ive used them before on car problems.

assuming you know where your blower motor is you can check the motor for power with the switch on and see if you have battery voltage at the connector. if you do then it is a bad blower motor. Most of the time when a resistor goes out it will work on high only but no other settings. with it not working at all seems to be motor. Hope this is helpful.

the blower motor speed control module is defective, replace it.
SOURCE: Blower won't shut off
You will need a Blower motor resistor and maybe a blower motor resistor connector end. If you look under the dash on the passenger side(may need to remove smooth black cover, vents will be sticking out) you will see a connector going straight up into the blower motor resistor(7 wires/slightly in front of blower motor). Pull out the connector and check for melted terminals/wires. If no melted terminals just replace blower motor resistor with part # 89019088 per GM to revert to part before 04 in order to stop blower motor resistor relay from hanging. Let me know if i can help more.

replace the relay , when a relay sticks like that , a good test is to slap it with something like the handle of a screw driver , see if it un-sticks , its not a fix , just a test . cheers'

It is on the passenger side, you have to remove the black plastic kick plate, below the glove box, to expose it (held in place with 2 latches and 1 push pin). The resistor is in front of the blower motor ( sandwiched between the motor housing and the firewall) it is tricky to get to, i think when i changed mine i didnt replace all the screws as they were difficult to remove and even harder to replace. Good Luck, Mike
