SOURCE: When jeep overheats quickly, it dumps water and coolant

When water gets hot it expands that is why you have the overflow box. If you are overheating check the water pump and thermostat

SOURCE: Porsche boxster 1998 overheats very easily

it could be the thermostat has gone bad-does top hose get hot if no then likely bad thermostat, water pump is bad if pulley is wobbly it is bad, radiator is clogged with corrosion, look in rad when cold and if it is dirty or milky it needs flush and refill with new antifreeze

Are cooling fans working? if so when they do work, the air coming through the radiator should be HOT, ROASTING AIR, if not the radiator isnt flowing coolant.how does it run after sitting all night at first start, does it run rough 5-10 seconds? if so, may have head gasket issues. BIG BUCKS........

SOURCE: my toyota tarago overheats

replace the thermostat and refill with proper coolant, make sure that there are no air bubbles stuck in the system. If that doesn't fix it check your water pump, there is a small hole in most water pumps called a weep hole, if it is bad, then there will be coolant leaking out of said hole

How fo I fix my 1995 525i bmw from overhesting thete is not any water in the oil?

Hi William check the EGR cooler thery can trek coolant into the exhaust system. But before that make sure the system is Blead out there is a vent screw beside the filler cap. Also you need to be sure the water pump is doing its job. These do fail when the impeller comes loose on the shaft. If all these are ok you may need a head gasket. Or have a crack in the head. Hope this helps. Regards Jim...

Overheating coolant boiling out into reserve tank

you have a blown head gasket.. doesn't have to have coolant in the oil for a blown head gasket... if hoses are rock hard when running then you have exhaust leaking into the coolant via a blown head gasket...

My 98 buick regal looses coolant I have recently flushed system out, replaced water pump & thermostat but my I keep loosing coolant dont see any leaks i will fill it up & in a couple of days its...

Take look down by the belt tensioner. There are two by-pass tubes that run from the tensioner to the engine. The by-pass elbows have rubber seals on them and after the coolant flush may have damaged or ruined the seals.
The only other option is the coolant is going into the engine oil or transmission oil. Check both oils and see if they look "milky"
Good luck.

1998 sl1 oil in water running hot

If you have oil in your coolant then your head gasket is blown. Be careful, and don't let it fully overheat because you will warp your head and have to buy an entire engine.

Excessive overheating!!!,water within oil.? Was told buy friend needed water pump.? Yet now told it may be the head gasket, or manifold gasket? To drive i constantly fill the antifreeze tank with water yet...

Sounds like a head gasket to me. If the oil is milky than the only way coolant can get into the oil is through the head gasket. Since there is also a lot of whit smoke out the exhaust coolant is getting into the combustion chamber and then getting pushed out the exhaust. Your best option might be to find a low mileage used engine. Heads gaskets can get very expensive!

I have a Cdillac Deville 98 northstar. Getting an Error message - Engine overjeat, Change Engine oil, Check Coolant level and later I get Idle engine message I changed engine oil and coolant recently -1500...

Whatever you do, NEVER allow this engine to overheat and always use the correct antifreeze (DEX COOL) or you will damage your heads severly. The heads were made from aluminum so there is a very serious warping issue on the 1998 Cadillac Northstar engines. There should have been a recall but wasnt, ended up costing me 3 thousand USD to fix the engine problems I had but she now runs fine. I only had the car 4 months before this happened so someone prior to me owning evidentaly let it overheat on too many occassions and I had no choice but to fix cause I was still paying on the car!! Good luck

1998 altima overheating

It may be the thermostat, but you should also check:-
1) Coolant level is at correct level (full) when checked cold- prior to running,
2) Cooling fan/s are running normally as they should when coolant temp rises,
3) A coolant hose on the suction side of the water pump is not collapsing (due softening) causing restricted coolant flow,
4) Radiator coolant core is not blocked, or radiator heat dispersion air fins blocked with insects/grass,
5) Engine does not have other running problems that cause it to overheat.
