Question about Mercury Cars & Trucks
I have lost the keys to my mercury grand marquis and i am replacing the ignition and key. can i replace it with a non transponder key and ignition or if i have to buy an ignition and a transponder key, do i need to program it or how do i remove the having to use a chipped key
turn the ignition to the on position then on the bottom of the steering colum just under the lock cylender thare is a hole that leads up to the cylender. get a straight pick or somthing with a point on it and insert in hole apply a little steady force while pulling straight out on the cylender. i am assuming you are talking about the ignition lock cylender.

SOURCE: disable transponder chip keys
You have to measure the resistance across the key and get a resistor of the same value at radio shack and jump it across the wires at the security box, this way the security system thinks the key is always inserted. We did this with 1989 firebird some years ago and it worked great.

unfortunatly we cant do it it has to be done by dealer or locksmith.you would need the computer thatdownloads the key code but down my way home depot started selling these key fobs far more cheaper than the 150 dollrars the dealer wants
