SOURCE: speedometer, odometer, cruse control & tranny overstopped working

If it has antilock brakes, the sensor is on the top of the rear differential. This sensor usually drives the speedometer. check the sensor for an open in its windings and also the wire that connects to it for any breaks.

SOURCE: my speedometer don't work I've replaced the transmission speed sensor and it fixed the odometer but did nothing to help the speed indicator to know how fast I'm driving. What else do I need to check?

Its possible that your ECU electronic control unit is failing to send info from the trans to your dashboard or perhaps wiring is faulty (common at trans plug). Use a code reader to scan for any problems with ECU - It could also be a fuse...

Speedometer not working

Assuming that your van is driving smoothly and your gears are shifting smoothly, start by checking your tranny fluid level. If it is low, that may be one of a few possible problems. If fluid level is fine, your speedo sensor may have a loose connection or could be going out which is what may be triggering the check engine light. I had that happen on my Jeep Cherokee. Speed sensor stopped working and the light was on constantly. Remember, if your speedometer sensor does not work, your odometer and trip meter will not turn either. Speedo sensors are not very expensive and pretty easy to change. Start with the easy tasks first: check fluids, check connections, replace sensor. If that doesn't work, get it into a shop (or talented and well tool-supplied buddy) and get a code(s) for the problems. Good luck!

Car won't shift into 3rd and 4th. If you put it in neutral then down to drive it's okay but then goes back into neutral. Did a ****** filter change and no luck.

Year, brand, model would be helpful. You sure a speedometer cable is broke? If you have a newer car most of them have speed sensor(s). If a speed sensor is not working, it could be the problem with the shifting. Please rate my answer so I get points awarded.

1994 Honda Accord automatic; Speedometer/Odometer intermittent

Sounds like the Vehicle Speed Sensor. It is strange that you're not getting a Check Engine Light or a Flashing light on your gauges where the gear selection indicator bulbs are. For the heck of it, check the plug and wires leading to the Speed Sensor. It is on the back of your transmission kind of near/above the firewall motor mount if you need to replace it. Good luck!

Check the wiring from the computer to the vehicle speed sensor for any corrosion or damage. It could be open or shorted somewhere.

1995 Buick Lesabre Speedo inop

It may be a faulty speedometer with a short inside, or a short on speedometer wirings or connector.

Whenever car vibration cause the wiring to short, there you lose speedometer and trans functionality.

You need to access the speedometer connector and wirings to
instrument panel to fix this.
