SOURCE: Have 115,000 miles on car

Regarding the transmission, if you have an automatic, use genuine Honda ATF fluid only and only do a drain and refill. A power flush will damage the Honda Transmission. It should be drained and refilled every 60k initially, then every 30k afterwards.

SOURCE: transmission fluid change

It differs with use but for a rule of thumb you can look at the fluid on the dipstick against a white cloth and if it brown to black looking not a reddish color you should have it serviced.Either a drain and fill or a complete trans flush if it is black.Your trans will thank you

Can changing transmission fluid and filter cause transmission failure on a honda civic lx 1995

DO NOT use generic ATF - HONDA BRAND ONLY. If our transmission has less than 50k miles on it, you might get away with it for a while, but their ******'s are very unique - made by Honda and designed to run on their fluid. I learned the hard way how generic fluid can destroy a ****** - trust me, it's not worth saving 10 dollars on fluid! My trans. was a little glitchy and I trusted the O'reilly guy on fluid - it stopped shifting at all withing a week. Go to the dealer or save a few bucks by ordering from Car Quest Auto Parts if you have one.

What should be done to service the transmission? is it beneficial to change fluid ? ? synthetic thank you

How many miles on car?
Do you know the service record for the transmission?
Having any problems?
Does the fluid have a normal color? Smell Burnt??
Personal Opinion:
If the car has high miles and the transmission seems to work well and the fluid seems normal let it be. If you decide to change the fluid, use the mfg, recommended type only (no synthetic), change the filter, gasket and clean the pan (do not flush).
Good luck

Civic 92,auto gear box problem

There are no filters to change. If the fluid is brown or black in the transmission you should have it changed. If you have over or near 200k miles on your car you should consider getting a good used one with low miles, but should you call around and see if you can get a free inspection at a transmission shop first.
