My personal suggestion would be to go for t hese repair catalogs from www.reliable-store.com instead. much better language, complete manual of 800+ pages, and they also have live assistance feature

SOURCE: 2000 grand marquis cruise control not working

Have seen this problem before. You need to look under dash at brake pedal and find a blue switch with plunger contacting pedal, disconnect connector and jump with a peice of wire and drive to see if cruise works and if it does replace deactivation switch this should get you going.

How do you replace the Headlight control module on Mercury Grand Marquis

The lcm is mounted in the same location in all crown vics. It's under the dash, above the gas pedal in between the climate controls and steering column. If you're having trouble locating it, engage the hazard flashers and listen to where the source of the clicking sound is coming from. You can also place your keys in the ignition and open the drivers door and track down the module by listening to where the warning buzzer tone is coming from.
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
  1. Open hood. Disconnect battery ground cable .
  2. Locate lighting control module above accelerator pedal.
  3. Disconnect bottom two electrical connectors from lighting control module.
  4. Remove two screws retaining LCM to bracket and unclip from bracket.
  5. Remove lighting control module from bracket and disconnect remaining electrical connector.
  6. To install, reverse Removal procedure. Check lighting control module for proper operation.

Want to replace LCM 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis

The Lighting Control Module can only be replaced by the dealer or by someone who has the factory scan tool. The new module has a blank memory in it. The tech needs to upload the memory from the old module, then donload it into the new module.

Lights on 2000 Mercury Grand marquis will suddenly go out while

please rate as solved if this fixes your issue. Let me know too.

I believe you have a bad LCM, Lighting Control Module. Or, the connectors to it have corrosion maybe. The module is above the brake pedal. It is very expensive. You can buy one at discount from tascafordparts.com. Sometimes, ebay has one too. But, you need one for your year car. Match the part number on your LCM.

Here's how to get it out.
