It needs a new pruge valve. The purge valve is sticking open allowing fuel vapors into the intake manifold causing a rich hard start condition.

SOURCE: location of crank position sensor 2003 santa fe 4

hi the sensor is in with the timing belt. You will have to remove the timing belt cover and belt to put a new one in. You will also see a small gold metal rotor that spins on this sensor also replace that or it will trash the new sensor.

Sensor says "coolant thermostat failure" but car not running hot

these santa fe's are known to be screwy, winter time brings out the worst in most cars, did you retrieve a trouble code that told you this ? It doesn't hurt to replace your thermostat, cheap fix, sure its not your temperature sensor ? should replace this also ! clear out codes from your computer , a parts store can do this for you, hell , let them check out your problem for you, then buy thermostat, etc.,

Hi Mark, I've just had the same problem with my 2007 Sante Fe. After replacing water pump, radiator, thermostat, etc, turns out it was the cylinder head gasket. No water in oil, but engine pressurises the water system, blowing water out the overflow. Cheers

Where is thermostat position on santa fe 2002 crdi 4wd

the upper radiator house should run directly from the radiator to the thermostat housing. there should be 2 or 3 bolts that hold the housing on. loosen them and when you go to put the new thermostat in make sure you get a new gasket or use some high temperature RTV. if it isnt located on the upper radiator house it will be on the lower.. it has to be one or the other. it just depends on how the coolant flows on that specific vehicle

My santa fe has a cooling fan that wont stop runningstays hot but dont over heat

Sounds like a defective coolant temperature sensor. You didn't tell us which engine is in your Santa Fe. 2.4 4cylinder, 2.7 V6? or the 3.5 V6?
Without diagnosing this problem myslef, there are several probable causes (first, coolant temp sensor), next could be wiring, ECM, welded contacts in cooling fan relay, short in relay circuit, etc.
