Hi, I have got a Mercedez-Benz C200 Model, bought brand-new in 2007. Past 11 years we never had any trouble with it; we used to take it to our local Merc dealer for maintenance. Past 2 months, our C200 has suddenly started stalling (i.e. engine shuts off automatically while we are driving). We can re-start engine immediately. It is quite scary to have our car stopped in middle of road. During yearly check-up 2 months ago, our Merc dealer replaced battery as it was never changed past 11 years. Since then our C200 has started stalling. We are not sure if battery change is the cause or something else. We are not sure what we can check by ourselves. We are looking for any help, suggestions. Pls help. Thank you.
Will need to have diagnostic done on it since it can be anything --bad or failing sensor to fuel pump

Often when the battery is disconnected or replaced the computer will lose it's learned idle settings. You could try letting the engine idle in park until the engine temperature comes up to normal and leave it like that for a few minutes, then put the Air con on and let it idle again for a few minutes, then switch the air con off and put it into drive. If it does not stall, let it idle in drive for 2 minutes or so, and then do the same with the Air con on. This should relearn the base idle settings and stop it from stalling on you. Before you carry out this procedure you should make sure that when you replaced the battery you didn't remove any other plugs or knocked anything that may be causing the fault. If you try this procedure and it still stall when you select drive, you will need to get a Mechanic to check the vehicle over.

First place to look is behind the dash. Its unlikely to be the 'sensor', as its a cable driven speedo...this would suggest the dashboard panel is falling to bits...you may be able to pick up a scrap on from somewhere...

As the post said earlier they went to a ford shop.... I suggest to have your vehicle inspected elsewhere. maybe have your o rings replaced and your fuel system cleaned.

There is a special additive lubricant for gear transmission to solve this problem. Just add on to gear oil. I had the same problem. now ok.

Check the Air Intake Temperature sensor, that is used by the control module to determine when to start and stop the choke. The AIT is mounted on the air intake.
