Is the multi function switch at fault or is there something on the steering column that needs to be adjusted. I have taken this to two dealerships without success.
It might be worth approaching a dedicated auto electrician for this if the dealerships are no help.
Has the steering wheel been removed recently? The turn signal stalk has a 'trip' switch fitted behind the steering wheel on the steering column. This is what triggers the turn signal to turn off. This may have slipped out of position or become faulty. The need for a little extra nudge to the right suggests this. Is your Right turn signal any different?
You will have to remove the trip switch anyway to remove the multi switch, so it's worth checking both of them.
Testimonial: "I purchased it used so have no idea what work was done on it prior to our owning it. From what I have seen in videos on the internet, it does not appear to be the trip mechanism behind the steering wheel although I would not rule it out completely. The videos seem to point toward the tripping mechanism inside the multi function switch itself. Just to be clear, when turning right, the multi function switch correctly cancels the right turn indicator when the turn it completed and the steering wheel is returned to the center position."
Sounds like it is the multi function switch. Sometimes if it is the ‘trip’ the opposite signal has the opposite problem, tripping too early.
This isn’t a hard job to do yourself, just time consuming as you have to remove the trim covers on the steering column then take the steering wheel off. *Just be very careful when dealing with the airbag!!* Treat it gently and store it outside the vehicle while you deal with the turn switch.
The steering wheel might take some pushing and shoving to get off so leave the fixing nut on 2 or 3 turns to stop it smacking you in the face when it does come off. The switch mechanism will be held in place with one or two small bolts which you don’t take all the way out, then you slide the old switch up and off the steering column.
**Note* Do this with your steering wheels in the straight ahead position. It makes lining things back up a lot easier.*
From what I have been able to determine from recent online information, the
steering wheel does not have to be removed on a 2016 Lincoln Navigator.
The plastic trim covers have to be removed which exposes the multi function
switch. From what I have seen, all that has to be done is removal of the
two mounting screws and unplugging the connectors to the switch. I seem to
remember they recommend disconnecting the battery ground and waiting about
20 minutes before removing the switch. Thanks.
Ok No problem. Hope I helped in some way.
Mr. Atkinson: Yes, you have given me more confidence in our analysis of the problem then I have gotten from two dealerships. Thanks.

SOURCE: 2004 Chevy Suburban key won't turn
Hey there B,
I've had a Suburban and I currently have a Blazer (Look at my Pic). Both do this.
Try this even though you tried before.
Look at the front wheels.
Are they , even to the slightest degree facing to the left or right?
Put the keys in. Now as you try to turn the key, turn the steering wheel more in the direction the front wheels are already facing.
There should be some play in that direction.
As you are holding the wheel hard over and working the key, at the same time try moving the cylinder in and out slightly.
This always works for me.
Good luck
Mike
Let me know how it turns out

More than likely it is going to be your clock spring behind the steering wheel.
SOURCE: 1997 diesel suburban steering goes left
I doubt it's your 4x4. Most transfer case will start turning the front driveshaft, meaning that BOTH front wheels would try to turn.
Could be a brake pad/caliper locking up on your left wheel. That'll make that wheel turn slower resulting in the veering left.
Could also be a wheel bearing. However usually you'll hear a grinding noise to go along with that. And it'll pull rather consistently in that direction rather than suddenly.
Or, what first comes to mind is that your steering box is loose, or the gear inside the steering box is stripped in one spot. Or your front tie rods could be shifting or possibly ball joints. These would cause a sudden shifting/veering.
All of these things are front end related. And also very dangerous. Take it down to any alignment shop, have them put it on a lift, and diagnose immediately.
Worse case scenerio is that a front end part breaks and sends you out of control and into someone else. Please get it checked. A diesel Suburban could do a lot of damage.
SOURCE: clicking in steering column
Hi
Check the lower steering column universal joint coupling needle rollers !
Open the hood, and get someone to wiggle the steering wheel, and using a good torch, check the lower steering column joint, for any free play, or if you can hear or feel, the clicking, and check all the clamp bolts and nuts.
Good Luck!
A FixYa rating is appreciated ....Thank you !
