If your 2006 Dodge Charger is experiencing issues with shifting and the EPS (Electric Power Steering) light is on, it could indicate several potential problems. Here are a few possibilities to consider:
Given the complexity of these systems and the need for specific diagnostic equipment, it is recommended to have a qualified mechanic or a Dodge dealership diagnose and repair the issues. They will be able to perform a thorough inspection, retrieve any relevant fault codes, and provide a proper diagnosis.
Remember, it's important to address these issues promptly as they can affect the drivability and safety of your vehicle. Continuing to drive the vehicle with unresolved transmission or EPS problems may cause further damage and potentially compromise your safety on the road.

In the event of an electrical failure, the vehicle can be shifted out of PARK by using the following procedure.
1.
Turn the key to the ACC or ON position.
2.
Remove the liner to the cubby bin to the right side of the shifter.
3.
Depress the BTSI override (2) on the side of the shifter assembly (1).
4.
While the override is depressed, move the shifter out of the PARK position.
5.
Return the cubby bin liner to its original location.
SOURCE: SPARK PLUG INSTALLATION ON 2006 DODGE CHARGER 2.7L
In my experience with the 2.7L engine, the spark plugs are located on the top of the engine below the individual ignition coils. The coils are placed between the intake manifold and the valve covers, 3 per side. The coils are held in with "torx" screws. Simply remove the screws, and disconnect the connectors to remove the coils. The spark plugs will be underneath. Be sure to properly gap the spark plugs for maximum life and emissions compliance. Also, an improperly gapped plug can shorten the life of the coil packs.
Hope this helps!
SOURCE: MY GEAR SHIFT WILL NOT MOVE OUT OF PARK ON MY 06 DODGE CHARGER
The Dodge Magnum and Charger shifters are having issues that result in being unable to shift from park.
There is a small plastic cog in the gear shift assembly that ends up going bad... if this is the case for you, you are not alone.
The dealer's remedy is to replace the ENTIRE shift assembly because they don't sell parts for it.
There is a company called "Billet technologies" and they sell a metal machined replacement part and they have links to illustrated replacement of the part. It does involve taking the console apart, and part of the radio bezel out of the car.
It's involved but it can be done... I recommend checking for any warranty first, then if you feel daring, you can order the part and have at it.
I personally own a 05 Magnum and the shifter is sticking now and then. We shut the car off and restart and sometimes it releases. I'm going to spray lube down the openings of the shifter to keep things freed up until I can replace the cog inside.
Hope this helps...

SOURCE: I have a 2006 Dodge charger. I can't shift out of
Welcome to the world of broken dodge shifters... I'm a member myself BUT there's hope!
Billettechnologies.com has a replacement cog for the shifter mechanism. And there are online replacement instructions linked from their website. Dodge only sells a replacement shifter assembly.. this is cheaper and the replacement part is machine metal instead of Dodge's plastic part... It'll take some patience and tools to get at it, but it's doable..

there is a solenoid that is operated when you put your foot on the brake to shift out of park, if the solenoid doesnt recieve power than either you have no power to the switch on the brake pedal to activate the switch (check fuses) or the solenoid itself has gone bad, the solenoid is usually right next to where the shifter is located
