My air conditioner in my 1999 vw beetle stopped working. It also started making a loud noise. I checked the air conditioner and the plate on the compresser was loose. Can I tighten it and will the loose plate cause the air conditioner to stop working and make that loud noise?

I have a 1999 vw beetle a couple of days ago when I had my a/c on it started making a very loud noise. About three weeks ago I had to put freon in the a/c. Is there something wrong with my a/c?

may just be the belt is lose or the cluch is going out. make sure that there is nomore than 1/2" play in belt. even if you have a tenchner it could need to be checked from time to time.

99 VW Beetle blows warm air when you start air conditioner

your condensor fins could be blocked by leaves or other debris on the outside. this component is located right behind the radiator. there could also be an overcharge or under charge in the system. make sure that when you charged the system that you used a good set of gauges to check the system pressures. Also check and make sure that there is not a blockage somewhere in the lines, Usually if there is there is a fine layer of ice surrounding it.

Vehicle A/C makes a continuace loud squealing noise

check your belt tension. Tighten it up and the noise should go away. if not, replace the belt and tension it accordingly.

2000 Beetle Loud Whirring at start up

its your secondary air pump. it turns on in the cold morning to inject more air into your exhaust, something about emission. its normal to be high pitched. once on my car it was way loud, i looked and the hose had disconnected. either way its normal if its not super loud. but if its everyone is looking at me loud then check for loose hoses!

LOUD RACE CAR NOISES FROM MY 99 VW BEETLE

This seems to be a classic case of "disentegrating exhaust system syndrome." There is either a hole(s) somewhere in your exhaust system or there is a leak somewhere. Probably the easiest way to tell where the noise is coming from is to start your car and just listen around in the engine bay, under the car, and at the muffler. Also do a visual inspection of the exhaust system to see if you can see any holes in the piping. I have also seen hairline cracks in the exhaust header itself that can cause the loud ticking noise that can be a little tricky to track down.
