Hi, the Jeep Grand Cherokee 1997 has a security system called VTSS (Vehicle Theft Security System). The VTSS cannot be disabled as it comes factory installed. What you can do is prevent the VTSS alarm from arming. If you prevent it from arming, you will void it activating. One of the VTSS funcions is to also prevent the engine from starting when the alarm is armed.
To disarm the alarm do this. Locate a line colored Violet with a black trace in the Body control module connector. In a suitable place of that line, insert a needle and using a jumper wire touch that needle with an extreme while the other extreme is touching ground. This will disarm the VTSS alarm. When the VTSS is disarmed, the engine will start every time you need it to.
