Without going from bumper to bumper ????? You need to see what's missing after it dies , spark or fuel pressure . Don't guess ,test an if you don't know how ,take it to a qualified repair shop. Your fixated with vapor lock . Crank sensor , ignition module .

DTC P1599 will set if the PCM has detected an engine stall condition when:
• The engine is in run mode.
• The ignition voltage is present on circuit 439.
• The crankshaft position (CKP) pulses at the PCM are NOT detected.
DTC P1599 is a type D DTC.
The powertrain control module (PCM) has the ability to set a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) if the engine stalls when the ignition has not been turned OFF. This DTC may aid in intermittent diagnosis of a customer complaint of intermittent engine stall. The scan tool Failure Record information can be duplicated under the same stall conditions in an attempt to reproduce the occurrence. Since DTC P1599 is a type D DTC, the PCM will not command the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) or SERVICE telltale On. This DTC can set due to driver error. For example, a vehicle equipped with a manual transaxle in which the clutch was released too quickly causing the engine to stall, will set DTC P1599.

I ran through all sensors vacuum lines think it might be clogged fuel pump? Preparing to drop tank. Could it be a catalytic converter issue?

  • Jeff Armer May 05, 2018

Before dropping the tank buy a fuel pressure gauge an test fuel pump pressure an flow . You can buy one for about 20 - 25 bucks at auto part store. If the cat was badly plugged could cause your problem . Pull O2 sensor an test exhaust back pressure . Video's on youturn showing how to test everything i listed .

But , think your wasting you time code said lost crank pluse to PCM

You check the coils with a ohm meter. They should 6-8 thousand ohms at the spark plug connections. One lead to one spark plug connection and the other lead to the other . It's not likely a coil for stalling. If coil , Your car can still run on four cylinders. It can be a ignition module. It fails when it gets extremely hot. The module is located under the coils.

SOURCE: i want to change my inline fuel filter for my 1994 Saturn

Remove gas cap and relieve fuel system pressure from fuel rail pressure relieve valve. Then you will want a drain pan of course. Before you can remove the fuel line, you will have to buy the cheap plastic quick-connect fuel line removal tool that fits your car. Or buy a universal pack for like $5. Then you press the plastic tool inside the fitting and pull on the other side and it disconnects instantly. then grab the new filter and the lines will just click right back in.

I have a 1995 Saturn Sl and my car right now is idling and driving some what rough with a little bit of power loss but no loss of fuel economy. The spark plugs are fairly new and so are the wires and coil...

The egr passageway may need cleaning, and doing so would not hurt. As a matter of fact, a good thorough deep cleaning of the entire plenium would be a good idea and may partially solve (or even solve) your problem. But, I suspect that it is your fuel filter. Try changing your fuel filter, it is simple, cheap, and should fix your problem altogether.

My 93 Saturn SL2 intermittent stalling issues

I would look at the egr system. First pull the valve and clean it. If you have a vacuum tester this would be a good time to test the valve itself as well. When under load you should be able to see the diaphragm engage and hold and then release as you release the vacuum. If that doesn't work check and/or replace the egr solenoid. It's located on the driver's side of the valve cover and usually runs about 60$.

Yours is a common complaint and the above is the most common remedy. Outside of that you might want to check and clean the idle air control valve and the port where it's housed. If it is extremely dirty or something managed to get stuck in there that could affect you vehicle running at idle as well.

Another thing, even though you just changed the plugs, pull one back out and look at it. If is fouled with oil you might need a new valve cover gasket which if it's leaking badly enough will impede spark.

In idle the car seems tro run fine, when gas is

could be a vaccum hose leak or the coil is dying not producing enough power for the spark plugs

1992 Saturn SL2 stalls after running about 5 minutes

my only guess is a vacuum hose leak. possibly a loose air filter housing, or the mass air flow sensor. look for any hoses unplugged. if nothing is noticed, try cleaning out your fuel system. if that doesnt solve it, then it would be something an experienced mechanic would have to come and examine it personally.

My 1993 Saturn SL2 will start and run ok until it warms up. After that the idle will be close to stall and there is a distint lack of power. The check engine light does not come on.

Have the battery checked, how long has it been since you changed the fuel filter? It is rec. every 2 years. Have you changed the spark plug wires recently? you could have two wires backwards.

1998 Saturn SL2 engine light

Possible Causes
The following are malfunctions that could cause a rich condition:
^ Fuel pressure too high. Perform fuel pressure test.
^ Leaking fuel injector(s). - Perform pressure leak down test.
^ Vacuum leak around the MAP sensor grommet.
^ Oxygen sensor contamination.
^ Restricted exhaust or air intake.
^ Fuel Vapor Canister saturated with fuel.

IMPORTANT:
If the front oxygen reading voltage is above 600 mV and the rear HO2S is above 600 mV all the time, the O2 sensors are probably not
at fault.

I have a saturn sl2 1996,,, it is hard to start i

fuel, oxygen, and spark. Check all of these. Is it getting air. Is your filter clean. Are you getting spark. if not check your plugs wires and coil. finaly check your fuel. Are you getting enough fuel. Replace the filter, make sure you are getting enough psi's before the injectors. also make sure the fuel pump is working.

You will probably need to put your car on a computer scanner.

Let me know what you find.
