SOURCE: steering wheel off centre on ford ka, had tracking

if wheel is offline then the person who done the tracking is responsable and take the car back to them and get them to put it right .the correct way is to adjust each track rod end a little bit not all the adjustment on one track end ,which throws out the wheel alignment .this means that you lose steering lock on one side .THIS IS COWBOY BODGE JOB .If they cant or wont put it right then take it to someone who can and report them to the office of fair trading and make a legal claim for the job to be put right

SOURCE: How do I remove my

if it is required to be removed to reomve the tire then there should be a wrench in the tool kit for replacin the tire, in most cases you only need to remove this bolt if you need to get to the wheel bearings so you should only need to remove the outer bolts on the tire. once you get it off to remove the pads simply remove the two bolts from the back side of the calipers and then lift up, be sure to check the thickness of your rotors and drums (if any) if they look to thin you will need to replace them when you replace the pads. if you need to replace the rotors then you will need to reomve the bearing nut, and keep in mind that if the bearings are worn you should replace them at the same time too, it is eaisier and saves you money from having to replace more parts with it later down the road.

REPLACED STEERING GEAR BOX IN 2003 CADILLAC ESCALADE NOW WHEEL IS OFF CENTERED

IF you have a rack and pinion steering pull the steering shaft of the pinion splines and centre the wheels . Centre the wheel and put the steering shaft back on the splines. If it is master splined then centre the steering wheel and adjust each side tie rod until the wheels are centred . (one in -other out ). Remember that when the wheels are straight ahead then the steering wheel will be slightly to the left (USA) to compensate for the camber of the road.. IF a steering box pull the pitman arm off --centre the wheels and the steering wheel and refit the pitman arm

Steering wheel not centred when driving in straight ahead.

2 ways to resolve. Take steering wheel off and recenter on spline ( done by dealer or auto electrician due to air bag) , or do a wheel alignment adjusting tie rod ends same distance as each other ie move both wheels left to right or vice versa.

I have a 1993 Jeep Wrangler. The steering wheel is old and I'd like to replace it with a new one. I was looking at a Grant custom wheel which seems nice but I have no experience with taking off steering...

Put your road wheels in the straight ahead position. Disconnect the negative terminal on the battery. It'll disable the air bag if one is fitted. Unscrew the centre boss through the holes on the back of the steering wheel.
**NOTE** Air bags are sensitive and explosive so BE CAREFUL!!
Gently disconnect the wires to the back of the centre boss and put it somewhere where it won't get dropped or kicked by accident. Disconnect the wires to the steering wheel controls. Loosen the bolt in the centre of the wheel. DON'T remove it all the way! Leave it in 2 or 3 turns.
You can either use a two armed puller to free it or hit it from behind with a rubber hammer.
Leaving the bolt in will stop it hitting you in the face when it comes loose.

I have replaced the horn and the fuse is good is there a switch under the steering wheel that also could be bad on my 94 corolla? If so how do u take the steering cover off to replace it

The wires should be visible after removing the centre part of the steering wheel, unless it has an air bag? a flat screw driver will pop off the toyota badge the wires are in there.

Its unlikely it will be the problem though. the wiring is the most common fault of horn failure. is the horn a meatl one screwed to the body of the car?

If so then you need to make sure that the horn is in good contact with the car, the car is the earth wire to the horn, no earth no horn. get a bit of sand paper and sand off the area where the contact is made, until its shinny metal then bolt it back up and try it.

If not that then check the wire connections to the horn and the wiring as far back as you can go see if any of it has been melted by something else, Common!!

Horns need a lot of power to make then function so if they dont have a good contact they just wont work,

When the airbag light started flashing and decided to stay on the cruise control stopped working. you can also hear a rattle in the steering wheel. please help

Its the clock spring under the the centre of the steering wheel. You may find that the horn is not working as well as the cruse control, the clockspring connects the air bag sensor to the airbag in the centre of your steering wheel, it keep the connection in contact as the steering wheel turns.
You could replace it yourself if you take the steering wheel off but remember to disconnect the battery first as fiddling with airbags could cause them to go off!!!!

How to pull steering column for blinker switch replacement

You will need some tools like a steering wheel puller and a few other tools. Take the cover off the steering wheel and the centre nut from the steering wheel. Use the remover to pull the steering wheel. Take the shroud off of the column and you will be able to see what is holding the switch onto the column. Remove the wiring harness and remove screws for the turn signal switch. There might be a star with a pin in the centre. Put the new switch on and put it all back together.

I have a fiat idea. It recently had new tyres and the wheels were aligned symmetrically. However, this left the self-centring of the electric steering slightly left of centre. I don't think the wheel...

I am not familiar with this particular car, but every car has a mechanical way of adjusting the steering linkage such that the steering wheel will be centered, even if this means removing the steering wheel and replacing it in the correct spot. A lot of VW's are done this way. What has happened with your car is simply laziness on the part of the technician. He could have insured that your steering wheel was straight through counter adjustments in the steering linkage and properly test driving the car. I do wheel alignments for a living and would never let a car go like this. Take it back, demand it be fixed properly, ask for a print-out of the alignment, if they can't provide a print-out, ask for your money back and take the car somewhere that can.
