A knock sensor going is usually indicated by pinging/rattling noise from engine especially when accelerating up a hill or just giving throttle but not kicking down a gear. Not sure what your asking about transmission?

Determine where the leak is coming from. Is it the rack, a hose, a connection, the pump? Most common would be a hose connection. Under normal circumstances, the hoses would not yet be cracked on an '04. The rack also has posed some problems with this vehicle, especially if it has been frequently operated on dirt roads, or dusty, grimey conditions. If the problem is with the rack, you can get a rebuilt rack to install, yours is rebuildable, but if you are not versed in this, it may be better to leave the rebuilding to the experts...but first order of business, find the leak, then we can better deal with the problem.
