Hi and welcome to FixYa!
As a first course of action please disconnect the positive battery connector and let it sit for atleast 5mins. then reconnect it again. This should reset the system.
After reconnection of the positive battery connector please insert the key and turn it on ON position but don't crank it then turn OFF. Perform this ten times and on the 10th time crank the engine.
Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

Hi Cherie Barton, I want to help you with your question, but I need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box?
Is your key narrow at the key ring end and have a pellet of plastic in the metal body of the key, or is your key about the size of a quarter and plastic where it goes on the key ring?
