You must mean coil pack? It's very unlikely that the whole pack of coils suddenly go bad. The proper test procedure is to first determine if the coil pack is getting a primary signal (battery voltage) with the key in on, not start. Then one can opt to test each individual coil with an ohmmeter. This usually spots a bad coil. But again if it just suddenly wont start and run, the odds of a bad coil are low.
What usually happens is the Ignition Control Module (ICM) may be the problem or the crank position sensor could be the problem. Find videos on YouTube how to test the ignition system-there are almost surely videos for mercury vans.

SOURCE: Mercury Villager headlight assembly diagaram for removal

This is easy. Lift the lid open. Look at the back of the sealed beam and you will see a clip and an o ring. Pull the clip up and pull wires back toward the driver's seat. Unscrew the o ring and firmly pull the bulb out toward the driver again. Note the 3 tabs on the bulb seat and realign the new bulb with those tab ( 2 bottom, 1 top). Replace with #9007 bulbs..do them both.

SOURCE: 95 Mercury Villager will not start

check/replace the starter relay switch in the relay box under the hood. The relay box is located on the front right of the engine compartment. easy fix, inexpensive part if that is the problem.

SOURCE: how to replace the speed sensor on a 2000 mercury

Removal & Installation

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Raise and safely support the front of the vehicle securely on jackstands.
  3. Disconnect the VSS electrical connector.
  4. Remove the VSS hold-down bracket bolt and remove the bracket.
  5. Remove the VSS from the vehicle.
  6. The installation is the reverse of removal. When installing the VSS hold-down bracket, tighten the bolt to 44–61 inch lbs. (5–7 Nm).

I have a 2000 Mercury Villager and the fuses for the turn signals and brake lights keep blowing. Why?

A burning smell is an important symptom of something VERY WRONG. Get it towed to a repair shop, and get them to trace the wiring harness.

Lost remote to disable alarm on 2000 mercury villager how can i disable it and start my van

If you have the factory alarm system, you can put your key into either door and lock and unlock the door, that signals the computer to deativate the alarm. If you have an aftermarket alarm system installed, it will have to be removed and the wiring that the alarm ties into must be restored to factory design.

2000 mercury villager wont start

Check your inertia switch. This is usually located in the rear interior of the vehicle. It has a reset switch you hold for 3 seconds. It is a safety switch to kill the fuelpump in an accident. Can trip with door closings.

Is it the starter

most likely is the alternator.
jump start the car and pull off one of the cable for the battery terminal. if the car stop. then it is the alternator. if not then you have to check the regulator. it should out put 12-14v.
the battery is not being charged.

No heat in my villager

you have air trapped in the engine. very common. park van uphill, fill radiator & reservoir, turn on heater, leave cap loose. wait for engine to warm up to burp air.
