Just had my 2010 caliber checked 5 transmission codes showed up as being faulty, P0700, P0218, P0777, P0741 & P0730. Told maybe an update on software may be available. Is this correct?

(DTC) CODE # P0700....Transmission Control System (MIL Request)

Translation:
Transmission Control Module (TCM) Malfunction or Failure.

P0700 Information Code

The Transaxle Control Module (TCM) monitors the malfunction of sensors and actuators relating to transaxle control. If any malfunction is detected, the TCM informs the PCM by sending a signal (P0700 code). P0700 means that a code has been set in the TCM.

This code is for information ONLY. If this code is present, check for transaxle codes.

P1776: Solenoid Switch Valve Latched in Low/Reverse Position. The TCM monitors the L/R solenoid to ensure that the fluid transfer happens. It uses a Pressure switch to verify this. Usually this code is set by a switch that is stuck or a solenoid that is not mechanically operating.

A transmission shop would be better suited for this type of work.

SOURCE: codes given are p0700 and p1781. Anyone know what these codes stand for? Thanks

The Transmission shop lacks the skills and tools need to do the job. It's best to call around for a shop that has a proper scanner to talk to the TCM computer. The real trouble codes are in there. The best place would be a shop that has a ASE mechanic on duty or the Dealership.

Here what the two codes means:

P0700 Transmission Control System Malfunction
It means you have a trans control problem in the trans computer.
You will need to get it on a trans capable scanner to see what the trans code or problem is.

the P1781 is set during engine start up when the ECM & TCM do not communicate properly during initial power up. It will only illuminate the service light if the condition occurs in 2 consecutive start cycles, but the DTC will be stored in the failure records after the first cycle.

SOURCE: Error Codes P0700 and P0605

0605 is for an Internal Control Module Read Only Memory (ROM) Error. This is typical of a malfunctioning computer. If the computer is bad, your retrieved codes are probably wrong anyway. May need to replace computer, drive, then see if if your check engine light returns.

SOURCE: I get codes p0700 and p0740 on a dodge grand

P 0700 = EATX (Electronic Automatic Transmission Communication) Controller DTC Present. = An automatic transmission input DTC has been set in the transmission controller.
P 0740 = Torque Converter Clutch. No RPM Drop at Lockup. = Relationship between engine speed and vehicle speed indicates no torque converter clutch engagement.

Yes the Fluid and Filter Change should take care of this. However, Dodge, Chrysler, and Plymouth Minivans have had alot of Transmission problems over the years. Make sure that whomever changes the Transmission Fluid that they use exactly what is specified. Also, do not let any Mechanic talk you into a Superflush of the Transmission. This procedure does not change the Filter.

Let me know if this helped, or if you have additional information or questions. Feel free to contact me at FixYa.com!

SOURCE: P0741 torque converter stuck off code

firstly it could be that the check engine light is mal-functioning or not. why not drive it as they said and if after that its still on get back to us.

Testimonial: "This is very helpful information. I just would like to know, once the cycles completes will the check engine go out on its own or not?"

My sister in-law has a 2008 caliber. took it to advance auto after her car went into limp mode. it has codes p0700, p0708, p0776, p0746, p0777.

Shift solenoids were stuck on. This could be caused by several issues. Speed sensor could be bad, throttle position sensor could be bad, etc. This is causing the car to go into "limp-in" mode. This causes the transmission to remain in 2nd gear to allow you to get to a repair shop. Have autozone clear the codes and see if it acts up again. Usually, limp-in mode can be stopped by stopping the car, turning it off, and re-starting it. Codes will remain stored in the computer until cleared by an automotive technician.

I have a 06 dodge dakota with 3.7L V6 engine. have troublecodes P0218, P0700, P0740, & P1775 showing on the diagonistic tool. what do i need to do to fix the codes listed?

All four codes involve the transmission.
Code 218 was for high trans fluid temp.
Code 700 was for a problem with the trans control circuits.
Code 740 involved the torque converter.
And code 1775 may have been for the malfunction indicator lamp.
Sounds like the transmission overheated for some reason, which could have cooked the fluid.
