97 Subaru Impreza shudders

My 97 Subaru Impreza (70k) began shuddering a few weeks ago whenever I turn (esp sharp turns, into parking spaces...) Also I sometimes hear very loud (think roller coaster-ish) when I accelerate at times. I had an accident about 3 yrs ago in which my front bumper was smashed off and then replaced. But I feel there may have been some damage to the front wheels or something???
I dont know alot about cars ;) But I take care of it as needed, reg oil changes etc, got anything it ever needed when it has had problems. So far pretty much a great car for just about 4 years. Just kind of scared of the shuddering & loud noise because I have to travel long distances, often alone and I wouldn't be so good on the side of the road by myself ;) Sorry for the long message... Is it possible it just needs amid life tune up??
I had a lot of work done last year for it to pass inspection when I moved to MD... It's also much hotter here?? Any help would be appreciated. thanks and have a great weekend!

I must say I enjoyed reading your post, you sound very nice. The problem sounds like possibly the C-V joints may need attention. They will cause a vibration and a grinding noise very noticeable at slow speeds. I hope this helps with your situation and hope you have a wonderful day.

Clutch shudder

Ask the mechanic if the clutches both came from the same source and if they were rebuilt units from the same re-manufacturer. The material used to resurface a clutch can cause this results.

Hi there,
It could be your power steering pump. Have you put fluid in your pump lately? Try that. I hope this helps you. Let me know. Have a great day.~MWD

2005 Subaru impreza shudders

The Impreza is 4 wheel drive, i assume that you have the ability to out the car into 2wd? Usually these cars that dont have a true 4wd system the gearing in the rear wheels doesnt allow you to do U-turns or any tight turn. What happens is the inner wheel shudders as it is spinning just as fast as the outside wheel. I had a 98 subaru and the owners manual was specific in saying dotn do U-turns etc.
Good luck!
