SOURCE: How do I replace the oil dipstick tube?

The dipstick can be pulled out of the block with a pair of vicegrips and the new one driven down into the block. Before trying to pull the dipstick tube out make sure it is not held onto the block with a small bolt.

How much does it cost to put an oil dipstick tube that has come out back into the block?

These tubes normally don't come out easily. They are usually held in place with a small bracket welded to the tube and held in place with a bolt. Some are press fit to some degree. You should be able to see a small O ring on the base of the dipstick tube if it is not broken off in the block. Is there any sign of the dipstick tube showing a rusted off bracket used to hold it? If the tube is not broken off in the block, the labor charge should not be more than half an hour

My oil dipstick broke off. Can you tell me the easiest way to retrieve the stick to replace with new

Many dipstick holders are bolted to the engine...removing this bolt and the dipstick tube should also retrieve the dipstick...you may need a new tube, as well as dipstick...Hope this helps.

Toyota yaris problem

Do Not do that!! Anything foreign in the sump is a really bad idea.It way make its way to the oil pickup screen and partially block the flow of oil. This has the potential to damage your engine. At the bottom of the dipstick tube is usually a small bolt that attaches the tube to the side of the engine.I would remove this and see if I can fish it out then.Failing this you will have to drop the oil pan and get it that way.I know this may seem like a trivial thing but the potential is there to do a lot of damage.
If bits of plastic get past the screen and get into your engine any cost to get the stick out will seem very minor. good luck

Hi I have a 96 camry and the oil dipstick tube has broken off how do I replace or repair the problem

Since the dipstick tube is a slide in fit, you will need to drop the oil pan to work the rest of the part out.
1) drain the oil
2) remove the bolts holding the oil pan (once they are all out, you might need to tap the pan to get it to release from the block-my brother's 97 camry was like this)
3) Remove the pan and look up for the dipstick tube end, spray it good with some WD-40, let it sit for a few minutes. The photo shows some pretty bad corrosion in your case.
4) with a set of channel lock pliers, begin to work the tube out. Take your time, you will be pushing out, not trying to pull the piece through.
5) once it is out, clean the edges of the dipstick tube opening.
6) Install new dipstick tube. ensure you have a good fit around the tube. otherwise, the crankcase pressure will squirt oil through.
7) Scrape off the old gasket from the oil pan and the face of the bottom of the engine.
8) lay the new gasket on the oil pan and begin to bolt it back on. Get the bolts in finger tight, then alternate torquing them down to ensure an even seal.
9) change oil filter and fill with new oil

MY TATA INDIGO SOME DROPLETS OF OIL IS COMING OUT FROM OIL DIPSTICK PIPE IF I REMOVE DIPSTICK IN ENGINE IS IN START POSITION, WHAT MAY BE THE PROBLEM?

oil pumping out of the dipstick tube? you are getting pressure in the block from compression somewhere..bad rings usually cause this unless the pistons have issues..like tops burned through or broken by busted or stuck valves..

Explorer Dipstick Tube Broke

There is a bracket that holds the tube to the block. There is no clips or retainers that hold it in the block. With the bracket loose you can twist and remove from the block. There is a oil ring on the end of the tube.
Sometimes the old tube is hard to remove...due to rust and corrosion. Spray the tube with a good penetrating oil before you start. Try to wiggle and twist the tube to brake it free....be careful, the tube is thin. If the tube breaks off flush with the block..the piece that in the block will need to get extracted out or remove the oil pan and remove it that way.
