check your spark plugs. If you take them out and the plug is fried, you should replace them. I had a similar problem with a misfire a few months ago, and ever sinceI changed the spark plugs, wires and air filter, the car runs great now.

SOURCE: VW Passat 2006 service now

2 options depending on your displays .

Press and hold the service wrench button with the ignition off. While still holding the button, turn your ignition to "on" (but don't start the car). Press the Min clock button and then release the wrench button.

With key off press and hold the 0.0 button on the cluster. With your other hand turn the key to the on position , while still holding 0.0 button, press the minute button for 1 second and you will see the service reset.

cheers

Vw passat epc light on

the belt slips, and the engine goes into limp mode, and the epc light will come on- to protect itslef until its fixed. Once its fixed...you may have to decode her up to 9 times to get it to start...I did. Ive done 5 timing belt changes on these blasted cars and every time it slips a tooth and the engine cuts itself off with epc, i have to decode it at least 8 times. good luck. and to the idiot who said gas cap..get a life .

My instrument says my drivers door is open when it is not. I can open my car with the remote, but can not lock it. Is it the Comfort Control Module? VW Passat 2001. 2.0L

the problem you are having is the drivers door latch mecanism, i just changed one on a 2002 jetta yesterday, the electronics in the latch get worn out, the only place to get one if from a dealer.

I have a 2001 vw passat i changed th doors and it will not start what could it be?

I had this happen with a different vehicle. "My" issue was the security system. When I disconnected the wires going into the doors, it tripped the security system into the ignition lockout mode. I had to reset the computer (free and it only takes a few minutes). Mine was able to be reset with one of the code readers from O'Reilly Auto Parts which they will let you use for free. Some vehicles have a reset button built in. If you have a security system on your VW, first make sure all wires were reconnected and not broken during the installation of the doors. If everything checks out ok, then give your local VW dealer a call and ask to speak to someone in the service department. As the service person if there is a security system reset button anywhere on your car.
