About two months ago i had the check engine light come on in my 2012 nissan maxima i went to auto zone it read the mass air flow sensor went and had it checked and the filter box of the mass air flow was packed with dog food it was cleaned and the filter replaced which took the check engine light off and then everything was fine.. then last week the light came on again when i was at a stop light it acted as if it wanted to die or i was running out of gas but ran fine when the car was in motion went to auto zone and they tested the light and again it read mass air flow sensor the next day i go to start my car and it wont stay running long enough to even change gears it acts as if its running out of gas and when i push the gas it has no affect like it has no pressure or something.. i replaced the sensor and its still doing the same thing its not the fuel pump because when i push the push start into the on position i hear the fuel pump kick in
The mass air flow sensor can set a few different codes an it doesn't always mean the sensor is bad . Never go to autozone ,they mite get lucky once in a while . You need to take it to a qualified repair shop an have it diagnosed properly .

Testing fuel pressure an flow with a pressure gauge should be done .https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AeVTZz0o...
Hooking up a professional type scanner an checking sensor data parameters to the PCM should be done also .

So you replaced the sensor and now the light is back on, right? Have you checked the code again to make sure it's still the MAF sensor code? If so, you've got a connector or wiring harness issue.
Testimonial: "It won't even stay running now it stalls out like I'm running out of gas and when I push the gas it's Asif there in no pressure just pushing air"
SOURCE: My 1987 Nissan maxima will not stay running. It
i think this car has a vaccum activated fuel pressure regulator could be your problem also a large vac leak would do this as well
SOURCE: 1999 pontiac grand prix . will not run
If wiggling the wires cured the code, then one of the wires is broken inside the insulation. Pull on each wire one at a time. look for the colored insulation to stretch, this will be the broken wire. For the other car that wont rev up, this is a common when the catalytic concverter is plugged up. This will also cause MAF codes, and in turn, TRAC OFF light.
